Wall Street is becoming more comfortable with the story line that interest rates are set to remain higher for longer, according to BMO Capital Markets. While often thought of as a death knell for equities, BMO's chief investment strategist Brian Belski posits that the prospect of higher interest rates won't entirely upend stock prices. Instead, he says, investors need to be pickier and should eye businesses with less leverage and strong free cash flow. Defendants have been filing a slew of motions for separate trials, faster trials, trial in a different jurisdiction or – in Trump's case – no trial at all. But the flurry of paperwork could delay the trials, aiding Trump's efforts to push off any resolution until after the 2024 elections. So I can say from experience that today's corporate return-to-office mandates are ridiculous, unnecessary and, in some instances, even cruel. For one, CEOs and CFOs are looking at big expenditures on corporate offices that remain either empty or are vastly oversized. The best run companies are focusing more on the thing they can best measure from afar: the work employees actually do. Not only do you do the work, you also eat there, work out there, and do your hobbies on campus. An office work environment will naturally evolve back to being a social hub over time, without draconian mandates that lack data and research to support them.

Georgia law allows criminal defendants to waive their in-person appearance and enter a formal plea through court filings. Atlanta CNN —Former White House chief of staff Mark Meadows rolled the dice on Monday with his opening move in the sprawling Fulton County election subversion trial: he took the stand himself. If the judge agrees, the trial could end up moving from state court to federal court, a more advantageous legal spot for Meadows. The former chief of staff also grew somewhat exasperated as the prosecutor questioned why his role would include setting up a call to settle private litigation. “There is a role for the chief of staff to make sure those campaign goals and objectives are implemented at the federal level,” Meadows argued. Generative AI could soon be trained on AI-generated content — and experts are raising the alarm. The new term comes as AI-generated content filled with errors continues to flood the internet. Other AI researchers have coined their own terms to describe the training method. Jathan Sadowski, a senior fellow at the Emerging Technologies Research Lab in Australia who researches AI, called this phenomenon "Habsburg AI," arguing that AI systems heavily trained on outputs of other generative AI tools can create "inbred mutant" responses that contain "exaggerated, grotesque features." These new terms come as AI-generated content has flooded the internet since OpenAI launched ChatGPT last November.

Publishers such as Condé Nast, Hearst, and Vox Media, which all house several prominent publications, have also taken the defensive measure. The deep archives and intellectual property rights of these news organizations are immensely valuable — arguably crucial — to training A.I. “I see a heightened sense of urgency when it comes to addressing the use, and misuse, of our content,” Coffey said. News organizations might feel they’re on solid legal ground, as Coffey told me, but there has yet to be any serious action taken against the OpenAI.

A Fox Television spokesperson on Wednesday said the "petition to deny the license renewal of WTXF-TV is frivolous, completely without merit and asks the FCC to upend the First Amendment and long-standing FCC precedent." The FCC, an independent federal agency, does not license broadcast networks, but issues them to individual broadcast stations on a staggered basis for eight-year periods. Fox cited FCC Chair Jessica Rosenworcel's comments in 2017 opposing Trump's suggestion the FCC could revoke the broadcast license for Comcast's (CMCSA.O) NBC over coverage of his administration.
