The National Football League has long been a broadcast juggernaut, with its games accounting for 83 of the nation’s 100 most-viewed telecasts last year, according to the ratings firm Nielsen. But as the reach of traditional television wanes, and major live events like the Academy Awards and the World Series face historically low ratings, the N.F.L. is embarking on an ambitious strategy to try to maintain its dominance. “Quarterback,” an eight-episode documentary that followed Patrick Mahomes and others during his second M.V.P. season, was the most-watched series on Netflix for more than a week in July.

A Republican senator and the president of the Teamsters union nearly got in a fistfight Tuesday in the middle of a Senate hearing, until Vermont Sen. Bernie Sanders stepped in and broke it up. Mullin, dressed in a white shirt and no jacket, then stood up and began to move toward O'Brien. shouted Sen. The verbal sparring began after Republican Senator Markwayne Mullin paraphrased from a June tweet posted by O'Brien about the Senator: "...What a clown, a fraud. Mullin then rose for his seat after O'Brien said "You stand your butt up, big guy" as the two traded further barbs. At that point Sanders, who was chairing the hearing with union presidents, said to Mullin: "You're a United States senator, sit down." REUTERS/Dado Ruvic/Illustration Acquire Licensing RightsBENGALURU, Nov 14 (Reuters) - U.S. Treasury yields will fall in coming months, though not as sharply as forecast previously, according to bond strategists polled by Reuters, who said for a fourth month running in even greater numbers that the 10-year note yield had peaked. The benchmark 10-year Treasury note yield breached the 5% mark last month for the first time since July 2007, more than a full percentage point above its August low of 3.96%. Yet, when asked whether the 10-year note yield had peaked in the current cycle, an overwhelming 94% majority of respondents, 30 of 32, said it had. The interest-rate sensitive 2-year Treasury note yield , currently at 5.04%, was expected to decline about 20 basis points by end-January, before falling to 4.00% in a year, according to the survey. If realized, this would mean a complete reversal of the inverted spread between yields of U.S. 2-year and 10-year Treasury notes - historically a reliable indicator of impending recession - by end-October 2024.

Caesars paid around $15 million in ransom to regain access to its systems from the hackers, according to reporting by the Wall Street Journal. Some have been collecting evidence leading to the hackers' identities and are assisting law enforcement, according to the five insiders. The sources say that, following the September casino hacks, the FBI's investigation took on new urgency. Mandia didn't respond directly when asked whether Scattered Spider's identities were known to law enforcement. Dave Sanders/Pool via REUTERS//File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNov 13 (Reuters) - Former U.S. President Donald Trump's social media platform Truth Social has lost $73 million since its launch in early 2022, a securities filing by Digital World Acquisition Corp (DWAC.O), the SPAC that plans to merge with the company, showed on Monday. Trump had announced the launch of his social media app in Oct 2021, saying it would "stand up to Big Tech" companies such as Twitter and Facebook that previously barred him. In 2022, Truth Social posted a loss of $50 million, with net sales of just $1.4 million. It lost $23 million in the first half of this year, with net sales of $2.3 million. Trump Media & Technology Group's (TMTG) independent registered public accounting firm has indicated that the financial condition raises substantial doubt as to its ability to continue as a going concern, according to the filing.

Congress is lame fight club now

It's the latest in Congress' centuries of history moonlighting as a sporadic fight club. Breaking with "Fight Club's" first two rules, though, no one in Congress is keeping it a secret. AdvertisementWhat started as a quiet day on Capitol Hill quickly led to Congress devolving into a lame version of "Fight Club." You're pathetic man, you are so pathetic," Burchett reportedly told McCarthy. Around a half-hour later, Burchett told a separate reporter he could "still feel it" after taking a "clean shot to the kidney."

Congress now appears likely to avoid a government shutdown this week. The White House even weighed in over the weekend before House Democrats started to warm up to Johnson's plan. Republican Sen. Ted Cruz of Texas didn't stop Obamacare. And Republican Sen. Rand Paul's colleagues tore into him after he forced a brief shutdown in 2018. As I was writing this story about how Johnson's plan is the dumbest thing Congress has done, Sen. Bernie Sanders had to stop one of his colleagues from throwing down with a union boss.

With 1:47 remaining and the score tied at 38-all against the Chargers on Sunday, the Detroit Lions coach went for it on fourth-and-2 from the Los Angeles 26-yard line. A field goal would have given Justin Herbert and the Chargers a chance to win or send the game to overtime. Goff then kneeled down three times, Riley Patterson kicked a 41-yard field goal as time expired, and the Lions prevailed in a 41-38 shootout over the Chargers. U.S. District Judge Sharon Gleason in Anchorage dismissed a lawsuit filed by environmental and tribal groups challenging the $8 billion project's approvals, which the U.S. Opponents claim the project would release hundreds of millions of tons of carbon pollution into the atmosphere, aggravating climate change and damaging pristine wilderness.
