Most people expected fireworks when it was announced that former President Donald Trump would appear at this year's National Association of Black Journalists convention in Chicago. And the conversation has heightened pressure on the NABJ from its members over the Trump visit. NABJ President Ken Lemon in a statement Tuesday said that the organization had been in talks with Harris' team for an in-person panel before she became the presumptive Democratic presidential nominee. But April Ryan, the White House correspondent for The Grio, reported that NABJ leadership informed Harris' team that it was preferable that she be in-person for her appearance. NABJ member Kathia Woods took to X to express her opposition to the organization's decision to invite Trump to speak in Chicago.

I didn’t know she was Black until a number of years ago when she happened to turn Black, and now she wants to be known as Black. Harris graduated in 1986 from Howard University, a historically Black institution where she was a member of a historically Black sorority. - Falsely claimed he was “protected” under the Presidential Records Act for taking official documents after his presidency. - Falsely claimed that “everybody,” including Democrats, wanted Roe v. Less than an hour after a gunman in Butler, Pa., tried to assassinate Donald J. Trump this month, David Sacks, a venture capitalist based in San Francisco, directed his anger about the incident toward a former colleague. “The Left normalized this,” Mr. Sacks wrote on X, linking to a post about Reid Hoffman, a technology investor and major Democratic donor. Mr. Sacks implied that Mr. Hoffman, a critic of Mr. Trump who had funded a lawsuit accusing the former president of rape and defamation, had helped cause the shooting. Elon Musk, who leads SpaceX and Tesla and previously worked with Mr. Sacks and Mr. Hoffman, then weighed in on X, name-checking Mr. Hoffman and saying people like him “got their dearest wish.”In Silicon Valley, the spectacle of tech billionaire attacking tech billionaire has suddenly exploded, as pro-Trump executives and their Democratic counterparts have openly turned on each other. The brawling has spilled into public view online, at conferences and on podcasts, as debates about the country’s future have turned into personal broadsides.

Third-party food delivery is becoming the norm for American consumers, as delivery apps like Grubhub, DoorDash and Uber Eats take hold in day-to-day dining. It's also presenting customers and restaurants with an increasingly complicated equation of service fees, delivery costs and worker tips. San Francisco resident Zainab Batool, who said she orders delivery from either Uber Eats or DoorDash weekly, called the added fees "insane." The share of consumers choosing third-party delivery services over direct restaurant delivery is rising, up from 15% in 2020 to 21% in 2024, according to Technomic's 2024 Delivery & Takeout Consumer Trend Report.
