Billionaire investor Ron Baron, longtime Tesla bull and shareholder, wrote an open letter in support of CEO Elon Musk's controversial $56 billion pay package. The pay package, proposed by Tesla's board of directors, has repeatedly come under fire for its close ties with Musk. If passed, it would be the largest pay package for a CEO in corporate America. "I'm voting for the pay package," Baron said on CNBC's "Squawk Box" Wednesday. In January, Judge Kathaleen McCormick of Delaware's Court of Chancery voided the original pay package.

CNN —Donald Trump is the first former president to be found guilty of felonies, but he isn’t the first convicted person to run for president in the US. Despite having been sentenced to 10 years in prison for sedition, Debs incredibly received some 914,191 votes, a higher number than when he ran as a free man in 1912. 9653.”Even from prison, Debs cleverly electioneered through the new medium of motion pictures. Following the election of Warren G. Harding in 1920, pressure was placed on outgoing President Woodrow Wilson to pardon Debs. Wisconsin is the latest state to bring charges against people connected to the former president involved in the broad effort to overturn the presidential election results. “We hereby reaffirm that Joseph R. Biden, Jr. won the 2020 presidential election and that we were not the duly elected presidential electors for the State of Wisconsin for the 2020 presidential election,” a portion of their statement said. “We oppose any attempt to undermine the public’s faith in the ultimate results of the 2020 presidential election.”Chesebro was previously charged, and pleaded guilty, in the Georgia probe. This undercut his testimony to state prosecutors in which he said the fake electors were contingent on winning the litigation. Sixteen thousand people erupted into rapture when Donald J. Trump walked into the Prudential Center in Newark at 10 p.m. Saturday to attend an Ultimate Fighting Championship match. He stayed until the grisly end, at 1:15 a.m. It was his first public outing since being convicted on 34 felony counts two days earlier. He walked out to Kid Rock’s “American Bad Ass,” a rock-rap trailer park anthem that samples Metallica’s “Sad But True” and has become the unofficial soundtrack of Mr. Trump’s quest to recapture the White House. Trump's TikTok rollout came as his own social media company, Trump Media, took a financial tumble in the wake of the historic verdict that convicted the former president on 34 felony counts in his Manhattan hush money trial. Trump launched Truth Social in early 2022 as an alternative, "non-woke" social media platform after he was banned from sites like Twitter and Facebook following the Jan. 6 Capitol riots. Since then, Trump Media has gone public and the former president now holds a 65% stake in the company. Trump is several months later than his Democratic opponent, President Joe Biden, whose reelection campaign launched on TikTok in February. CNN —Former President Donald Trump has joined TikTok, the fast-growing social media platform with ties to China that Trump has publicly embraced even though he railed against it as president. “The president is now on TikTok,” White said at the start of the video. But Trump now says he opposes a nationwide TikTok ban, adding that such a policy would only alienate young Americans and benefit Meta. The Biden campaign, for its part, also has a presence on TikTok and has continued to post on the platform even as the Biden administration has supported a nationwide TikTok ban. TikTok has filed a legal challenge to the law Biden signed in April that would ban the app unless it finds a new owner.

Iran’s hardline former President Mahmoud Ahmadinejad has registered to run for president in the country’s June 28 election, organized after the death of Ebrahim Raisi in a helicopter crash last month, Iran’s state television reported on Sunday. However he could be barred from the race: the country’s cleric-led Guardian Council will vet candidates, and publish the list of qualified ones on June 11. Ahmadinejad, a former member of Iran’s elite Revolutionary Guards, was first elected as Iran’s president in 2005 and stepped down because of term limits in 2013. In 2018, in rare criticism directed at Khamenei, Ahmadinejad wrote to him calling for “free” elections. Khamenei had backed Ahmadinejad after his 2009 re-election triggered protests in which dozens of people were killed and hundreds arrested, rattling the ruling theocracy, before security forces led by the elite Revolutionary Guards Corps (IRGC) stamped out the unrest.

CNN —An unusual horned comet notable for a series of outbursts, nicknamed the “devil comet,” will make its closest approach of Earth on Sunday around 3 a.m. Given that the comet won’t pass by Earth again for decades, collective observations by astronomers could provide key insights into its true nature and behavior. Officially known as Comet 12P/Pons-Brooks, the celestial object made its closest pass of the sun on April 21, coming within 74.4 million miles (119.7 million kilometers) of our star. The comet will make its closest pass of Earth on Sunday, but it will be more than 143 million miles (230 million kilometers) away from our planet and won’t pose a risk. An overlapping series of events likely has contributed to Pons-Brooks’ distinctive look, but it could also be due to our perspective of the comet, Kareta said.

“Today’s verdict does not change the fact that the American people face a simple reality,” said campaign communications director Michael Tyler. Convicted felon or not, Trump will be the Republican nominee for president,” Tyler said. Supporters hold placards and flags following the announcement of the verdict in Trump's criminal trial. Or, the guilty verdict could play into Biden’s campaign theme that his predecessor is too corrupt and extreme to serve as president again. In another age, a guilty verdict would have immediately ended Trump’s campaign.
