Palantir Technologies raised its annual revenue forecast for the second time this year on Monday, the latest sign that the generative AI boom is driving demand for its software services. The company co-founded by billionaire Peter Thiel now expects annual revenue between $2.74 billion and $2.75 billion, compared with $2.68 billion to $2.69 billion expected earlier. It also raised its annual revenue expectation from U.S.-based companies by $11 million, to $672 million. The company forecast third-quarter revenue between $697 million and $701 million, compared to analysts' average estimate of $679.1 million, according to LSEG data.

Apple stock plunged as much as 11% on Monday on news that Berkshire Hathaway sold about 50% of its stake. Warren Buffett's conglomerate sold about 390 million Apple shares in the second quarter. The decline in Apple shares, which was double the Nasdaq 100's decline of about 5%, came after it was revealed over the weekend that Warren Buffett's Berkshire Hathaway sold about 50% of its Apple stake. According to its second-quarter earnings report, Berkshire Hathaway sold about 390 million Apple shares during the quarter, which is on top of the 115 million Apple shares it sold during the first quarter of the year. This is an opportunity, especially going into what I view as a really historic upgrade cycle for Apple," Ives said.

Global semiconductor stocks fell Friday after a lackluster set of results from U.S. chip firm Intel sent its shares cratering, and a global market sell-off weighed on some of the biggest names in the tech sector. A number of major U.S. chip names also dropped on Friday in U.S. premarket trade, with Nvidia trading around 4% lower. The DOJ is looking at complaints that the chip giant allegedly abused its market dominance in artificial intelligence chips, The Information reported. Adding to the pressure on chip stocks is a global equity sell-off that began in the U.S. and has fed its way through to Asia and Europe.
