British fintech startup Revolut on Friday said it was valued at $45 billion in a secondary share sale with existing and new investors. The $45 billion transaction sharply increases the company's valuation from the $33 billion notched in July 2021. The valuation comes just weeks after Revolut was granted a banking license with restrictions in the U.K., ending a three-year wait after first applying for the license in 2021. The license allows Revolut to take customer deposits and issue products such as loans and credit cards. The company is now set to build up banking infrastructure in the U.K. before the official launch.

AdvertisementAs someone who's also been dating through whatever it is we've been doing romantically since 2020, I've noticed that my dating costs are going through the roof. How much should a date cost? For alcohol-free drinkers, the average price of a coffee is about $6 in New York City, which is comparable with other markets. Meanwhile, an informal 2022 report found that the average cost of a full body wax was $152, and Cosmopolitan reported in January that low-end forehead Botox would cost you $300. But even with the high up-front cost of dating, getting into a long-term relationship might pay off in the long run.

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu introduced new conditions that complicated negotiations aimed at freeing hostages and suspending fighting in the Gaza Strip in May, according to U.S. and foreign officials. The cease-fire talks, with Israel represented by the head of its intelligence service and other officials, had advanced close to an agreement. The war in Gaza between Israel and Hamas was sparked by Hamas’ terrorist attack in Israel on Oct. 7, which killed 1,200 people, most of them civilians. About 40,000 Palestinians have died in Gaza since Israel launched its retaliatory military operation in the enclave, according to local health officials. In a statement Sunday, Hamas said Israel had added new conditions to an earlier proposal that revealed its intention to continue its “aggression” in Gaza and sabotage a possible cease-fire agreement.

The situation has prompted Hunter Biden to add noted defense attorney Mark Geragos, who runs his firm out of Los Angeles, for the tax trial. The Delaware trial lasted seven days, but a tax trial is expected to last much longer, meaning at a far greater cost for the defendant. A previous deal between Hunter Biden and special counsel David Weiss to avoid trials and potentially prison time a year ago fell apart in dramatic fashion. Lunden Roberts, the mother of one of Hunter Biden’s children whom he had a child support battle over, has also been subpoenaed to testify, her lawyer says.
