Requiring all students to take a financial literacy course can help reduce such inequality, Mr. Pelletier said. Carly Urban, a professor of economics at Montana State University who studies financial literacy, said that discussions about what topics should be taught in classrooms are often bitterly divisive, but state legislators appear to be finding common ground supporting high school financial instruction. Most American adults said they wanted their states to require a semester- or yearlong financial course to graduate from high school, according to a 2022 poll from the National Endowment for Financial Education. Over the years, questions have arisen about whether high school financial literacy classes are effective. High school financial instruction, she said, “overwhelmingly” improves credit scores, lowers loan delinquency rates and reduces the use of risky services like payday lending.

“The great wealth transfer is gaining significant momentum as many billionaire entrepreneurs age,” Benjamin Cavalli, who oversees strategic clients in the global wealth management unit at UBS, told reporters. Their combined wealth rose 9% to $12 trillion, before taking inflation into account. Arnault is the world’s third-richest man, with a net worth of $167 billion, according to the Bloomberg Billionaires Index. Risks and opportunity for UBSThe “staggering” transfer of wealth to younger generations presents a huge opportunity for UBS, but also poses considerable risks, according to Cavalli. Nov 30 (Reuters) - The Biden administration has forced a Saudi Aramco venture capital firm to sell its shares in a Silicon Valley AI chip startup backed by OpenAI co-founder Sam Altman, Bloomberg News reported on Thursday. Altman-backed Rain Neuromorphics, a startup designing chips that mimic the way the brain works and aims to serve companies using artificial intelligence (AI) algorithms, raised $25 million in 2022. The agency, the primary U.S. watchdog for deals with national security implications, instructed the Saudi fund to unwind that deal sometime over the past year, the report said. Altman and the U.S. Treasury, which oversees the Committee on Foreign Investment in the United States (CFIUS) process, did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment. The US has taken action that could block AI development in the Middle East.

CNN —For nearly a decade, US Coast Guard leaders have concealed a critical report that exposed racism, hazing, discrimination and sexual assault across the agency. That investigation found that serious misconduct had been ignored and, at times, covered up by high-ranking officials, allowing alleged offenders to rise within the ranks of the Coast Guard and other military branches. The Coast Guard said this week it had enacted or partially enacted 60 of 129 recommendations, including additional training and additional support services for victims. The Coast Guard did not comment on concerns that problems remain at the agency, or the statistics or examples cited by CNN. Yet to this day, none of the accused service members from her case have faced any consequences.

How Qatar swayed Israel and Hamas to make a truce work

It was necessary to clarify all the points in the agreement and make sure they meant the same thing to Israel and Hamas, a source briefed on the negotiations said. Qatar's foreign ministry told reporters that Hamas and Israel negotiated in Doha until "the early morning" of Nov. 23 and agreed on a plan to implement the truce deal the next day. Qatari negotiators shepherded Israel and Hamas to agree on exactly where in Gaza Israeli tanks would be stationed during the truce. Israel vets all financial transfers Qatar makes to Palestinians in Gaza, Qatari sources have said. Despite proximity to Hamas officials, Qatari negotiators did not speak directly to the group's leaders in Gaza, but through its representatives based in Doha.

The number of billionaires rose by 7% to 2,544 people globally, UBS said in its 2023 Billionaires Ambitions Report, with their total worth rising by 9% to an estimated $12 trillion. For the first time since the study started in 2015, billionaires accumulated more wealth via inheritance than through their own business activities. Among the 137 new billionaires, a total of $150.8 billion was inherited by 53 heirs over the last year, exceeding the 84 new self-made billionaires' total of $140.7 billion, the bank said. The study highlighted a trend away from self-made billionaires, created by the tech industry boom and symbolised by the rise of Tesla boss Elon Musk and Amazon founder Jeff Bezos. Still, despite the large inherited wealth, this did not necessarily mean a new generation of super-rich 20 somethings.

A video using The Daily Telegraph’s branding, which reports a Body Worlds exhibition was cancelled in London when it was found to be using illegally acquired bodies of Ukrainian soldiers, is fake. Body Worlds exhibitions are the brainchild of German anatomists Gunther von Hagens and his wife Angelina Whalley, and they showcase real human bodies preserved through “plastination”, a preservation process invented by von Hagens in 1977. But Georgia Gomez, the director of development at Body Worlds and von Hagens Plastination, told Reuters in a Nov. 16 email that the claims made about the company were false. Body Worlds exhibitions rely exclusively on body donations to the Institute for Plastination body donation programme and they have never received any body donors from Ukraine. No Body Worlds exhibit is planned or scheduled in London or any other part of Britain and quotes in the video attributed to von Hagens are “completely bogus,” Gomez added.

LONDON, Nov 29 (Reuters) - The owners of fund administrator Alter Domus are pursuing the sale of a stake in the Luxembourg-based group that could value it at more than 4 billion euros ($4.4 billion), three people familiar with the matter told Reuters. Permira, Alter Domus, Goldman Sachs and Raymond James all declined to comment. Alter Domus shareholders were reported in June 2022 to have held initial discussions with potential buyers, but a deal never materialised as soaring borrowing costs and market volatility rocked the deals market.
