The study quoted one person as saying: "I can't wait to stop wearing a mask … I can't wait to show my full face in places again." People who felt less attractive noted the stark opposite and were much more likely to still wear masks. Those who considered themselves really attractive were a lot more likely to unmask for a job interview, than people who didn't. This difference is likely linked to the concept of "pretty privilege," the notion that people who are considered attractive, based on society's definition of beauty, will have better, and more, opportunities than people who aren't considered attractive. Though, people who found themselves more attractive were still more likely to leave their mask at home while walking their dog.

Using AI to help write your résumé improves your odds of landing a job, a study found. While the study didn't use ChatGPT, it points to AI's potential to help job seekers. Meaning, van Inwegen said, that employers "do care about" résumé writing. "Everyone's résumé will have gone through some sort of algorithmic checker," van Inwegen said.
Some members of Congress have joined the movement to provide free textbooks to university students. The college textbook landscape, however, isn't a free market, as students must buy whichever course materials their professor selects for their class. As states across the country create their own grants for open textbooks, members of Congress have also begun to take notice. "We are helping cut the cost of attending college by supporting the creation and expansion of open college textbooks," Durbin told Insider in a statement. And while there's no timeline for the Affordable College Textbook Act to make it through Congress, federal legislators have granted $47 million in funds for open textbooks since 2018 as part of the Open Textbook Pilot Program.
This debt load is beginning to takes it toll — the NY Fed's report found that millennials are missing credit card and auto loan payments at rising rates. Millennials are starting to miss credit card paymentsAfter falling over the last few years as borrowers paid down their balances, US credit card debt rose $61 billion in the fourth quarter, the largest increase in the history of the NY Fed's data, which dates back to 1999. This increase brought total credit card balances to $986 billion, surpassing the pre-pandemic high of $927 billion. Inflation has caused many millennial consumers to spend more, save less, and ultimately turn to credit card debt as pandemic-era savings have run out. While there are surely several factors fueling credit card debt among millennials, the high cost of childcare and related expenses surely aren't helping.

New Education Department data suggested Biden's student-debt relief would benefit the lowest earners the most. It said that 81% of all applications received came from the bottom 80% of Congressional districts by average income. It used data from the department, along with the US Census Bureau, to make those estimates. But it's reasonable to say that Biden's relief would work as intended, targeting it to the lowest earners. Now, all eyes are on the Supreme Court to see if those borrowers will end up actually getting relief.
He added that a government committee was looking into adding secular subjects to madrasas alongside religious study, a development that hasn't been previously reported. Other students and teachers said Islamic education played an important role in their lives, though they hoped to be able to study secular subjects too. "There's deep-seated mistrust of the formal education sector, despite the fact that it too incorporates Islamic education."
GOP lawmakers reintroduced a bill to end the student-loan payment pause and block Biden's broad debt relief. This comes just under two weeks before Biden's student-debt relief plan is headed to the Supreme Court. Bill Cassidy and John Thune reintroduced the Stop Reckless Student Loan Actions Act, which would end the ongoing student-loan payment pause and block President Joe Biden from canceling student debt broadly in connection with a national emergency. This comes just under two weeks before Biden's plan to cancel up to $20,000 in student debt is headed to the Supreme Court. House Republicans also recently suggested ending the student-loan payment pause as a proposal it would support in potential budget cuts, and over half of House GOP lawmakers, and nearly all Senate GOP lawmakers, filed amicus curiae briefs to the Supreme Court opposing student-loan forgiveness.
