(AP) — A U.S. District Court judge is standing by her decision to block portions of a public health order from New Mexico's governor that would suspend the right to carry firearms in many public parks in the Albuquerque area, with appeals pending before a higher court. The Monday order from Albuquerque-based Judge Kae Riggs denied a request from the governor to leave in place a temporary ban on firearms in some public places in greater Albuquerque, including most public parks. “Judge Riggs’ opinion ignores this caselaw and the massive amount of historical evidence in the record supporting the constitutionality of the temporary restrictions imposed by the public health order,” Hayden said in an email. The Guardian reported that Sellafield, which carries out nuclear fuel reprocessing, nuclear waste storage and decommissioning, had been hacked by cyber groups closely linked to Russia and China. Sellafield, controlled by the government's Nuclear Decommissioning Authority, is located in northwest England and has 11,000 employees. But the regulator said Sellafield was currently not meeting certain high standards of cyber security it required, adding that it had placed the plant under "significantly enhanced attention. The Guardian report said the ONR was "believed" to be preparing to prosecute individuals at Sellafield for cyber failings.

The median wealth of lower-income households shot up 101% between December 2019 and December 2021, while the middle class enjoyed a 29% increase. High earners had a median net worth of $803,400 in December 2021, while the middle class and lower-income households had nest eggs of $204,100 and $24,500, respectively, Pew found. Half of these households had a net worth of $500 or less in December 2021, compared to a net worth of $0 two years earlier. Poorer Hispanic households had a median net worth of $0, compared to a negative net worth of $1,100 at the end of 2019. Other government reports show that lower-income Americans lost ground in 2022.
