Asian American support for Donald Trump was 5 points higher this election cycle than in 2020, marking a slight shift to the right. The NBC News Exit Poll of early and Election Day voters indicated that 54% of Asian American voters chose Harris, while 39% voted for Trump. Harris lost seven points compared to Asian American Pacific Islander (AAPI) support for Biden in 2020. “The pendulum has started to swing back.”Ramakrishan pointed out that previous polling showed that the economy was a major priority for the Asian American electorate. Shomari Figures, the Black Democrat running in an Alabama congressional district redrawn last year by a court order, has won the seat over Republican Caroleene Dobson, NBC News projects. In 2023, the U.S. Supreme Court upheld an earlier ruling stating that Alabama’s district map likely discriminated against Black voters and mandated redrawing the 2nd District. The new area has a majority of Black voters — 47.6%, compared to 45% who are white. His late father, Michael Figures, was an Alabama state senator and his mother serves in that role now. Figures, 39, said he is happy to embrace the role of being an advocate for Black people in his state.

SAN ANTONIO — Shohei Ohtani had arthroscopic surgery on Tuesday to repair a labrum tear in his left shoulder, following an injury the Los Angeles Dodgers star suffered during Game 2 of the World Series on Oct. 26. The Dodgers say the Japanese two-way player is expected to be ready for spring training in February. Ohtani injured his nonthrowing shoulder while sliding into second base on a stolen base attempt, which resulted in a shoulder dislocation. Ohtani was just 1 for 11 at the plate with a walk in the World Series following the injury, but his presence was galvanizing for a lineup that had relied on his production all season. The right-hander had surgery on his throwing elbow last offseason, which kept him off the mound in 2024.

A possible Trump victory could spell massive gains for Tesla over the coming months, according to Wedbush Securities' Dan Ives. The analyst thinks the electric vehicle maker can pass the $1 trillion market cap threshold if the Republican nominee comes out on top in the U.S. presidential election. "This could ultimately add $40 to $50 per share to Tesla's stock right off the bat, and we could now be talking about a $1 trillion [or] $1.5 trillion market cap for Tesla." Tesla, which is up just 1% for the year, has a market cap of $807.1 billion through Tuesday's close. "Ultimately, I think Tesla is the most undervalued AI name in the market," he also said.

CNN —Hurricane Rafael, a Category 2 with 100 mph sustained winds, is rapidly intensifying in the Caribbean as it bears down on Cuba Wednesday. It will be a strong Category 2 hurricane when it makes landfall in western Cuba Wednesday afternoon, according to the National Hurricane Center. Rafael is the strongest hurricane to roam the northwestern Caribbean in November since 2009, according to data from the NOAA. It’s forecast to become only the fifth hurricane to roam the Gulf of Mexico in November since 1966, according to hurricane expert Michael Lowry.
