Core Scientific will shut down thousands of bitcoin mining rigs tied to Celsius. Core Scientific says the mining rigs are costing the firm $2 million in revenue per month, per court filings. Celsius claims that Core Scientific increased its power rate, which wasn't stipulated in the two embattled companies' initial agreement. Core Scientific followed suit and filed for bankruptcy in December, as miners became pinched by a decline in bitcoin prices and higher energy costs. Core Scientific and Celsius did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.
The exact contours of the Democrats' majority is in flux after Senator Kyrsten Sinema switched her party affiliation from Democrat to independent. But either she caucuses with Democrats and gives the party a 51-49 majority or she does not, leaving Democrats with a 50-49 edge. But in a 50-50 Senate where Democrats and Republicans had an even number of seats on the Senate Judiciary Committee, several civil rights lawyers and nominees supported by progressive advocates stalled with deadlocked votes. And in a 50-50 Senate, occasionally Vice President Kamala Harris was needed to cast a tie-breaking vote. Assuming they are renominated, their path to confirmation could be smoothed, as the Judiciary Committee under Durbin's leadership will now have a majority of Democrats.

She had props, including a crown, a little statue of a knight kneeling and holding a pen, and pictures of friends dressed as her characters, in medieval garb.

He publicly announced his purchase of Montgomery’s data in August at a gathering in Missouri of hundreds of his followers. “I own it,” Lindell said of Montgomery’s data, touting it as irrefutable proof Trump was cheated. On Nov. 9, far-right podcaster Joe Oltmann linked Montgomery’s Hammer and Scorecard claims to a parallel conspiracy theory: that widely used voting machines manufactured by Dominion Voting Systems were rigged to flip votes from Trump to Biden. Powell amended her complaint a few days later and dropped the expert’s declaration and the references to Montgomery’s claims. But the government said in a recent court filing that the order has nothing to do with election data.

Some of the companies in this year’s ranking of the 250 best-managed companies have a weak spot that may be worth paying attention to. When the Drucker Institute compiles the ranking, it gives companies a red flag if they put up a showing below the 25th percentile in one Gap stores have hit the company’s balance sheet,of five categories: financial strength, customer satisfaction, innovation, social responsibility, and employee engagement and development. The red flags serve as a warning that a company—even one that scores highly in every other aspect of the ranking—needs to address an area of weakness before it has a broader effect on its business.
CNN —The Justice Department is still demanding the Trump team designate a custodian of records to attest that all documents marked classified have been returned to the government, a source familiar with the matter tells CNN. The Trump team has not named anyone to serve as a custodian of records in part because anyone selected would almost certainly face legal jeopardy, according to the source. Trump’s attorneys have already outlined to the Justice Department which properties it has searched, how the searches were conducted and what was found. The Justice Department has also raised concerns that not enough detail has been provided about how searches were conducted at certain Trump properties, particularly Bedminster. CNN previously reported the Justice Department is asking the judge to hold Trump in contempt of court for failing to comply with a subpoena issued this summer ordering the former president to turn over records marked classified.

Last holiday season, McDonald's leaned on singer Mariah Carey's starpower and discounts to drive customers to their mobile app. The chain is also offering exclusive access to branded merch releases and deals on food, like a 50-cent double cheeseburger. The three-week-long promotion, which began Monday, is part of the company's broader digital strategy to drive traffic to its mobile app through seasonal promotions and create recurring revenue without sacrificing profitability. In recent years, restaurant companies have turned to loyalty programs to drive downloads of their mobile app and convince customers to keep coming back. For comparison, Starbucks , which has had a loyalty program for more than a decade, reported 28.7 million active U.S. members during its latest quarter.

New York CNN Business —If your holiday wish list includes a Chick-fil-A sauce-themed blanket or a chicken nugget pillow, look no further. The chicken chain has launched its first-ever online store, and it’s filled with quirky merchandise that pays homage to cult-favorite items. Chick-fil-A said it expects the products, which range from $15 to $75, to “sell out quickly” — and the chain is already planning for more merchandise next year. Chick-fil-A is selling merchandise for the first-time ever. “Our studies show that one-third of consumers in the 18-44 age range are likely to buy products from collaborations,” Jensen told CNN Business earlier this year.
Executives at Burger King and McDonald's praised sales growth driven by chicken menu items. On November 15, Popeyes released its new Blackened Chicken Sandwich, which is not breaded and is seasoned with Cajun and Creole spices. The sandwich chain is explicitly promoting the new sandwich as "reigniting the chicken sandwich wars," which started with the 2019 release of the Popeyes spicy chicken sandwich. The chain further took advantage of reduced chicken prices with a BOGO chicken sandwich deal over Black Friday weekend. Chicken, including the spicy chicken sandwich and McNuggets, has been a "strong growth driver" for McDonald's, CEO Chris Kempczinski told investors in October.

Nov 22 (Reuters) - As the crypto castle crumbles, some true believers say the answer is to double down on DEX. Decentralized exchanges, that is. "It is now clear that there can be risk associated with holding assets in a centralized entity," said Varun Kumar, CEO of decentralized crypto exchange Hashflow. "Data is showing that users are turning to decentralized trading solutions." Many market participants see both centralized and decentralized exchanges coexisting.
Authorities do not appear to have filed a petition seeking to confiscate any weapons Aldrich may have had at the time under the state's red flag law. RED FLAG OPPOSITIONThe disparity partly reflects deep opposition to red flag laws among some of Colorado's conservative sheriffs and local political officials. While El Paso Sheriff Bill Elder has voiced skepticism about "sanctuary" declarations, he opposed the red flag law over due process concerns, according to local media reports in 2019. The National Rifle Association opposes red flag laws as unconstitutional infringements on law-abiding citizens. Studies on the effectiveness of red flag laws are limited but suggest they can make a real difference.

Executives at Taco Bell, McDonald's, and Chipotle each noted success from pricier menu items recently. The more expensive meal promotion successfully brought customers in, and "drove the highest weekly digital transactions ever in the US business," Kempczinski said in the October earnings call. Taco Bell is seeing similar success with pricier menu items like the grilled cheese burrito, YUM Brands CEO David Gibbs said in a November earnings call. In New York City, a Mexican Pizza costs $6.49, and a double steak grilled cheese burrito goes for $6.79, about double the cost of lower-priced burritos on the menu. Analysts have praised both the grilled cheese burrito and adult Happy Meal as smart strategies driving sales.
