Investors are still expressing signs of concern despite the stock market hitting all-time highs, according to Deutsche Bank. The S & P and the Dow weren't alone in their milestones. Gold prices also notched a new all-time high following the supersized Fed cut, crossing the $2,600 per ounce level on Friday. Allen also highlighted that traditional valuation metrics are "elevated" considering the "relentless" nature of the market in 2024. Year to date, the S & P has gained nearly 20%, and has risen in 24 of this year's 38 weeks, according to FactSet.

Battery maker Northvolt on Monday announced plans to cut a total of 1,600 jobs in Sweden as part of a major cost-cutting drive. The strategic action requires Northvolt to reduce its global workforce by around 20% and a 25% reduction in Sweden, the firm said. Northvolt, which currently delivers batteries from its first gigafactory Northvolt Ett in Skellefteå, said in March that it had over 6,000 employees. The announced measures come as part of a broader strategic review and in response to what Northvolt described as "a challenging macroeconomic climate." Based in Stockholm, Sweden, Northvolt is one of Europe's most valuable privately-held tech firms that builds lithium-ion batteries for the electric vehicle industry.

UniCredit announced on Monday it had increased its stake in German lender Commerzbank to around 21% and submitted a request to boost the holding to up to 29.9%. The Italian bank acquired the additional Commerzbank shares through financial instruments, it said in a Monday statement. Earlier this month, UniCredit announced it had taken a 9% stake in Commerzbank, confirming that half of this shareholding was acquired from the German government. However, as was the case for UniCredit, such potential requires action for it to be crystalized," the bank said on Monday. Commerzbank shares were down 0.4% by 11:50 a.m. London time, while UniCredit shares fell 2.3%.
