Greater China is a key market for Apple, with new AI features expected to roll out in April. It also rolled out its highly-anticipated Apple Intelligence software in the US in English on Monday. While consumers may be buying the newest iPhones in Greater China, they'll have to wait until April for Apple Intelligence to launch in Chinese, however. However, competition is stiff, and Apple Intelligence still needs time to prove itself. It'll take months to know for certain if AI can move the needle for Apple in Greater China.

Their clash has already drawn more ad spending than any other Senate race in history, eclipsing the $412 million spent in Georgia’s 2020 race between Jon Ossoff and David Perdue. While Moreno clings to Trump, Brown tends to avoid talking too much about national political figures from either party. “Sherrod Brown, he’s taking ads in like he’s my best friend,” the former president said Sunday during a rally at Madison Square Garden in New York. He also acknowledged the threat of ticket-splitters — and the importance of Trump having coattails long enough to carry Moreno along with him. But then-Rep. Tim Ryan, a Democrat who represented much of the area for years, lost it to Vance in the Senate race by 3 points in 2022.

The bitter nationwide debate over transgender rights is playing out on a very personal level in a federal court lawsuit filed in Virginia by a former Liberty University employee. SEOUL, South Korea — North Korea test-fired a suspected long-range ballistic missile that is designed to strike the continental United States, its neighbors said Thursday, days before the U.S. presidential election. This would be the first ICBM launch since December for North Korea, a reclusive nuclear-armed state that has been ratcheting up its rhetoric against the U.S. and its allies South Korea and Japan. Japanese Defense Minister Gen Nakatani later said the missile fell into the sea off North Korea’s east coast around 8:37 a.m. He said the launch time of 86 minutes would be the longest ever for a North Korean missile test, and that it could be a new type of missile. North Korea has said the deployment is a “rumor,” while Russian President Vladimir Putin did not deny the reports when asked about them by NBC News last week.

New York CNN —Apple CEO Tim Cook said the company’s Apple Intelligence AI tools would “supercharge” the iPhone 16 when he introduced the new device last month. Now the world is about to get its first glimpse of whether the promise of Apple’s artificial intelligence technology is also supercharging deflated iPhone sales. That means people who bought the iPhone 16 in the first month it was on sale didn’t have access to those AI features until just recently. That figure will include sales of earlier iPhone models that happened during the quarter, too, but could indicate that the iPhone 16 helped raise sales slightly. In the year-ago quarter, when the iPhone 15 launched, iPhone sales grew about 2.8% year-over-year.

While the hardware sales are certainly profitable, they pale in comparison to the profitability of Apple's Services. It's impossible to do consistently, and that's why Jim Cramer always says "own, don't trade" Apple stock. During the reported quarter, Apple returned over $29 billion to shareholders, including $3.8 billion in dividends and equivalents and another $25 billion via the repurchase of 112 million shares. Though Services sales missed the mark, gross income managed to outpace expectations thanks to significant year-over-year margin expansion. The growing installed base of active devices is of course translating into strong engagement with Apple's services.

But they may ditch their argument Friday morning, when the October jobs report is set to be released — just days before Election Day. Groshen disagreed, saying that initial estimates of the monthly change in hiring are “noisier than they used to be” because of the lower response. However, that gets smoothed out in later revisions as response rates improve with the additional time. That exacerbates the funding shortfall at the BLS, where inflation-adjusted funding has steadily declined over the past decade, she said. That would help improve, for instance, Federal Reserve officials’ ability to make interest rate decisions that hinge on the latest labor market data, Groshen told CNN.
