Scott Stuber, who was previously the head of global film, will step in as chairman of Netflix Film.
Netflix added more than 7 million subscribers in the fourth quarter, significantly more than expected. Greg Peters, the company's former COO who led its push into advertising, will take over the role. The stronger-than-anticipated subscriber growth comes as the company announced a shakeup in its top ranks: Netflix's co-founder Reed Hastings has stepped down as co-CEO. Following this report, Netflix will no longer provide subscriber forecasts but will continue to provide revenue guidance. In his role as COO, Peters led the company's expansion into advertising as the company sought new revenue drivers.
Netflix co-founder Reed Hastings has stepped down as co-CEO of the company after 25 years. Greg Peters, the streaming giant's COO, will take over as co-CEO with Ted Sarandos. Netflix's COO Greg Peters will step into the co-CEO role, joining Ted Sarandos, who has served as co-CEO since 2020, according to the company. In his final year as co-CEO, Hastings oversaw the successful launch of Netflix's new ad-supported tier and the company's latest attempts to crack down on password sharing.
As co-CEO Peters will receive an annual salary of $3 million, according to an SEC report. Peters could also receive more than $17 million in stock options and a $14 million bonus. According to a filing with the SEC, Peters will be raking in an annual salary of $3 million. Added to that, he'll get an annual stock option allocation totaling more $17 million and is also on track to receive an estimated bonus of more than $14 million. Added to that, Hastings will receive $2.5 million in stock options, the report notes.
In some cases, it used to make financial sense to tap cheap credit for a larger purchase, rather than withdrawing money from a savings or investment account. If you currently have credit card debt, "grab one of the zero-percent or low-rate balance transfer offers," McBride advised. Put your cash to workOnce you've paid down debt, Peters recommends setting some money aside in separate savings account for emergency expenses. "Online savings accounts can be a way to earn money in times when other investments may not be returning well," he said. "It's not a huge return but you are not going to lose your money," he said.
The co-living operators Common and Habyt merged; Pagaya brought the property manager Darwin Homes. The proptech companies that sprang up by the dozens in the past few years are now looking to one another for help. A massive consolidation among companies that seek to make real-estate transactions and services more efficient and profitable is underway. Cushman & Wakefield reported 90% occupancy rates for co-living companies at the end of the third quarter of 2022, and traditional real-estate firms like Cushman and Greystar are now offering their own co-living brands. In property management, the consolidation phase is already well underway, said Paul Stanton, the other founding partner at Proptech Bankers.

From start to finish, Tuesday's 80th annual Golden Globe Awards was a very queer affair. Here are some of the evening's queerest (and gay Twitter meme-worthy) moments. The first quarter of the third year of a presidential term is consistently the best quarter for S & P 500 performance, according to CFRA data. "If everyone says the first half is going to be bad and the second half is going to be good, it could be the opposite. "The timing of the economic rebound probably starts in the second quarter so the market can look forward to it," he said. "Right now it's estimated to be down 3% year-on-year … We are looking at an earnings recession which is typically coincident with an economic recession." The second quarter is expected to be down 2.3%.

HBO Max has set a Jan. 12, 2023, release date for Mindy Kaling’s animated series “Velma,” a spinoff of the beloved, but family-friendly, “Scooby-Doo” series. In this modern, adult-oriented take on the classic “Scooby-Doo” franchise, the series follows the origin story of Velma Dinkley (Kaling), the brainiac of the Mystery Inc. gang. After a corpse is found in her high school, Velma teams up with Daphne (Constance Wu), Shaggy (Sam Richardson) and Fred (Glenn Howerton) to solve the murder. Kaling’s series also reimagines several members of the Mystery Inc. gang, including making Velma of South Asian descent. “We want to honor other interpretations and what we think feels really modern,” Kaling explained at NYCC.
Prosecutors said Murdaugh, 54, made nearly $14 million as a lawyer over nine years, but also stole nearly $7 million from his law firm at the same time. The latest indictments bring the total number of charges against the disgraced attorney to more than 100. In his best year, Murdaugh reported making $5.3 million in 2013 after making $2.4 million the year before. Murdaugh said he made just $219,000 in 2017 and only $1.6 million over the next two years, according to the indictment. Murdaugh and his family were the biggest players in the legal scene in tiny Hampton County.
Alex Murdaugh, 54, the scion of a South Carolina legal dynasty, is accused of willful attempt to evade state taxes on millions of dollars in income between 2011 and 2019. The new charges are in addition to dozens of state charges, including embezzlement and murder, brought by a Colleton County grand jury. Murdaugh is accused of fraudulently making nearly $7 million, which was left off on annual tax filings with the state, according to the indictment. He is suspected of skipping out on more than $486,800 in payments owed to South Carolina. He faces two counts of murder and two counts of possession of a weapon in connection with the murders.
WASHINGTON — Democrats are grappling with how to handle a potential re-election bid by newly minted independent Sen. Kyrsten Sinema in 2024, fearing that a three-way battle could split their voters and throw the race to Republicans in Arizona. Asked how the DSCC should handle a possible Sinema 2024 run, Sinema's Arizona colleague, Democratic Sen. Mark Kelly, “I haven’t given that any thought." Schumer said he has granted Sinema’s request to preserve her committee assignments through the Democratic Party, meaning the 51-49 partisan organization of the chamber won’t change. She wouldn’t say if Democrats should back her but said her working relationship with Sinema won’t change. Prior to her party switch, Sinema had stronger relationships with Republican senators than just about any Democrat.
