Police are investigating the death of a 19-year-old Walmart employee who was found in the store’s walk-in oven Saturday in Canada. Halifax Regional Police in the province of Nova Scotia were called to the Walmart at 6990 Mumford Rd. at 9:30 p.m. and found the young woman dead. Investigators are working with Occupational Health and Safety and the Nova Scotia Medical Examiner Service on the case. The Nova Scotia Department of Labour, Skills and Immigration said it issued a stop-work order Tuesday for the bakery and a piece of equipment at the store.

London CNN —ChatGPT can be duped into providing detailed advice on how to commit crimes ranging from money laundering to the export of weapons to sanctioned countries, a tech startup found, raising questions over the chatbot’s safeguards against its use to aid illegal activity. Norwegian firm Strise ran experiments asking ChatGPT for tips on committing specific crimes. And in another experiment, run earlier this month, ChatGPT produced lists of methods to help businesses evade sanctions, such as those against Russia, including bans on certain cross-border payments and the sale of arms. Strise sells software that helps banks and other companies combat money laundering, identify sanctioned individuals and tackle other risks. “It’s like having a corrupt financial adviser on your desktop,” Rødevand said on the company’s podcast last month, describing the money laundering experiment.

The bank compiled different scenarios for how the 10-year and 2-year Treasury yields may react, depending on the election outcome. Both have opined that the rally on Wall Street underscores a growing belief that former President Donald Trump will win on Nov. 5. However, I don't yet believe that Wall Street and Pennsylvania Avenue have intersected just yet. Indeed, if the stock market is anticipating a Trump victory, what might the bond market and gold market be telling us, assuming they expect the same outcome? Are those markets telling us a Trump victory would lead to higher inflation and bigger fiscal deficits? Those betting on a Trump win would be loath to say so if they follow the messages of multiple markets.

MUMBAI, MAHARASHTRA, INDIA - Hyundai cars seen parked outside the Hyundai showroom in Mumbai. Hyundai Motor India was set to start trading Tuesday in the country's two major stock markets after a $3.3 billion initial public offering, the country's largest-ever by amount raised. Unlike a traditional IPO, in which a firm sells fresh shares, Hyundai Motor India's listing is an offer for sale, where its parent Hyundai Motor Company sold its shares. The lead bookrunners of Hyundai India's IPO were Kotak Mahindra Capital, Citigroup Global Markets India, HSBC Securities and Capital Markets (India), J.P. Morgan India and Morgan Stanley India. There is amazing fundamentals in equity markets with supportive policies from SEBI [Securities and Exchange Board of India], retail participation and broad-based opportunities," he added.

French media and ad groups are calling on Apple to suspend its new "Distraction Control" feature, Business Insider is exclusively reporting. AdvertisementA group of French trade associations representing around 800 companies in the advertising and media sectors has sent an open letter to Apple CEO Tim Cook, calling for the tech giant to suspend the rollout of the iPhone's new "Distraction Control" feature. Distraction Control, which became available with iOS 18 this fall, allows users of the iPhone's Safari browser to hide elements on webpages like images, pop-ups, or ads. The letter urges Apple to suspend the rollout of Distraction Control and to provide technical documentation about its functionalities and any planned updates. AdvertisementAppleInsider later reported Apple had changed the name of the feature from Web Eraser to Distraction Control and updated it to include a popup explaining that it would "not permanently remove ads."
