CNN —American Lael Wilcox has broken the world record for the fastest woman to cycle around the world, traversing 21 countries and 18,125 miles in three and a half months. “I had so much fun — felt like I could’ve just kept riding forever,” said Wilcox on Instagram following the conclusion of her journey. The 38-year-old Alaskan is an experienced ultra-endurance cyclist, having become the first woman and first American to win the TransAm, a 4,200-mile race across the US, in 2016. Protesters hurled bottles, rocks and horse manure, a police statement said. “Victoria Police is appalled at the behavior of some of the protesters,” the statement said, referring to the Victoria state force. Around 1,800 police officers have been deployed to a Melbourne convention center where the Land Forces International Land Defense Exposition is taking place through Friday. CNN —Police have arrested and charged a man for allegedly stealing four Olympic medals belonging to Australian rower Drew Ginn. Authorities said Ginn’s medals were believed to have been stolen from the back of a Land Rover parked in the Victorian capital about a week ago. A GoPro camera, headphones and a wetsuit were also stolen, with police saying Ginn had left them along with the medals inside his car during a speaking engagement at a school. “They were hidden away in the car but the car was ransacked completely so lots of stuff was broken and destroyed,” he added. The 49-year-old voiced hope that, rather than being sold, the medals might find their way back to their rightful owner.

Australia intends to set a minimum age limit for children to use social media, citing concerns about mental and physical health. Authorities in Australia say they have issued an arrest warrant for a man who they say poured hot liquid on a 9-month-old infant last month, sparking a national and international manhunt. Police have released images of a man who may be able to assist in the investigation into the serious assault of an infant at a park in Australia on Aug. 27. On the day of the alleged crime, a group of people were approached by a man, unknown to them, who poured hot liquid on the baby boy before he ran away, authorities said. The infant was taken to the hospital with serious but non-life-threatening injuries, police have said. The man was last seen wearing a black hat, glasses, shirt and shorts.
