Chinese stock markets have failed to perform in 2023. All three major indexes have lost money for investors over the past week, month, three months, six months, and year. As a result, shorting the Chinese currency has been one of the most profitable investments this year, according to analysis by CNBC Pro of FactSet's ETF performance data. CNBC Pro screened for global China-focused ETFs that have posted positive returns this year to date. A weighted average analysts' price target for companies in the ETF points toward a further 22.4% upside over the next 12 months, according to FactSet data.

AMSTERDAM, Sept 10 (Reuters) - Dutch police on Sunday said more than 500 climate activists had been detained on a second consecutive day of protests against government subsidies for the fossil fuel industry. Hundreds of protesters marched on the A12 highway into The Hague around midday, ignoring warnings from authorities not to block the major traffic artery into the Dutch seat of government. On Saturday around 2,400 protesters were detained as an estimated 10,000 activists blocked the same highway for several hours. Extinction Rebellion, which organised the event, has said protesters will try to block the highway on a daily basis until the Dutch government stops using public funds to subsidise the oil and gas industry. Take Five: Doves versus hawks

Key UK jobs data and a G20 summit, marked by the absence of China's Xi Jinping, are also in focus. The doves urge caution; the most hawkish hawks say a pause is not a done deal, but haven't explicitly called for a hike either. Wednesday's August U.S. inflation data, followed by producer price and retail sales numbers a day later, are the next test. Next up are consumer and factory price data this weekend, with industrial output and retail sales out on the 15th. The unemployment rate has been edging above last year's 48-year low, indicating some softening in the jobs market, while basic earnings are rising at record pace.

The Hunt for the Ideal Bánh Mì

In the 1950s, bánh mì skewed further from French tastes and closer to the distinctly Vietnamese iterations that are ubiquitous today. Since the 1970s, when the Vietnamese diaspora became a global presence, bánh mì have proliferated as well. Their bánh mì crunched like a symphony, accompanied by what was likely the best chile crisp I’ve ever had. Ideally, you’ll pick up the baguettes and butter from a Vietnamese bakery or bánh mì shop. But it’s always worth going extra on the pork shoulder; leftovers hold the promise of future bánh mì.

Like in a camera, the High NA, or high numerical aperture tool, will gather light from a wider angle for up to 70% better resolution, although the ASML tool uses a system of mirrors rather than a lens. Separately, Wennink confirmed that ASML will have more sales in dollar terms from its previous generation "DUV" machines than EUV machines in 2023. ASML is forecasting 30% sales growth this year due in part to strong demand from Chinese customers for the older machines.

Flights will be capped at 452,500 per year, Harbers said, 9.5% below 2019 levels and lower than a previous proposal of 460,000. Airlines that use Schiphol including Air France-KLM (AIRF.PA) have sued to try to prevent the cap at one of Europe's busiest airports. The decision is "arbitrary, ill-thought out and undercuts procedures normally used," said Ourania Georgoutsakou, managing director of industry group Airlines For Europe (A4E). Europe's weaker economy limits fallout of US bond rout

Now, travelers also look to social media for proof of how others behave. If their peers from home are throwing caution to the wind while on vacation, this can cause a domino effect of bad behavior. I’ve identified other bad travel attitudes and habits that have emerged as a result of social media-driven tourism. The Instagram effectWhen people travel to a beautiful place, the temptation to post photos and videos to social media is high. This speaks to the role of social media as part of the problem when it comes to bad tourist behavior.

The enormous popularity of Verstappen, the first Dutch Formula One champion, has helped sell over 300,000 tickets in an instant every year, but Lammers said Zandvoort's appeal goes beyond its dominant home driver.
