More than 13,000 immigrants convicted of homicide — either in the United States or abroad — are living freely in the U.S., outside of Immigration and Customs Enforcement detention, according to data ICE provided to Congress earlier this week. The 13,099 immigrants convicted of homicide living in the U.S. may have never had contact with ICE, the two law enforcement officials said. The two law enforcement officials said ICE prioritizes migrants who have been convicted of serious crimes, like homicide, for arrest. There are currently more than 7.5 million immigrants on ICE’s “non-detained” docket, meaning they have pending immigration cases but are not currently in detention. Agents explained that locating convicted criminals living at large takes an enormous amount of manpower, from locating them to the arrest.

The United States Postal Service announced that First-Class postage, currently at 73 cents, will go up five times through 2027, according to a detailed document submitted this week to the Postal Regulatory Commission. The next price hike is planned for July 2025 and will then repeat “each January and July thereafter” through the end of 2027, the agency said. However, all price changes must be approved by the Postal Regulatory Commission and the specific price hikes weren’t announced. First-Class mail is becoming a smaller part of the Postal Service’s business because of online communication.

Trump was surrounded by Secret Service agents at his North Carolina event on Wednesday as he greeted supporters in the rope line. Congress just approved funding for both Harris and Trump to receive presidential-level protections, which one security expert said was unprecedented. “They are all now getting presidential-level protection from the U.S. Secret Service, which has never been done before,” said Evy Poumpouras, a former Secret Service agent. London CNN —A “misleading” online advertisement for $35 Nike sneakers has been banned in Britain for failing to make clear that the product was actually targeted at children and therefore the offer didn’t represent a true discount for adults. The ad appeared on the X account of The Sole Supplier, an online marketplace selling footwear and clothing from several major brands, in December 2023, the regulator said in its ruling Wednesday. Nike (NKE) said the ad was created and published by The Sole Supplier “without any (of its) input or oversight,” the ASA noted. The Sole Supplier, for its part, said it was open to considering how to display sizing information “more prominently” in future ads, the ASA said. The Sole Supplier did not immediately respond to a request for comment.

FAA administrator Mike Whitaker said Boeing and SpaceX should be treated equally after Elon Musk attacked the regulator for fining his rocket company "for trivia" and said it should focus on Boeing's Starliner issues instead. In a post on X last week, Musk railed against the FAA's proposed $633,000 fine for SpaceX over two instances where the rocket company violated its launch licenses. Secret Service advance agents did not request a surveillance team, which could have helped patrol the rally for approximately 15,000 attendees. The lead advance agent for the Secret Service could not even answer the committee when asked who secured the building.
