Evans Hankey was one of two people promoted to oversee the design team after the departure of Apple (AAPL)’s longtime product designer, Jony Ive, in June 2019. “Apple’s design team brings together expert creatives from around the world and across many disciplines to imagine products that are undeniably Apple,” a spokesperson said. Hankey stepped into the role after Ive left to start his own design company, LoveFrom. In December 2021, Hankey and Dye offered Wallpaper, a design and lifestyle publication, a rare look inside how Apple’s design team approaches new products.

"Apple workers represented by RAFFWU have stepped up where no other retail workers in Australian history have gone. Apple workers were not permitted to speak to media but made comments that could be heard by reporters, per The Herald. In June, an Apple store in Towson, Maryland became the first to officially unionize.

CCS Insight published its annual predictions report on Tuesday in which the group' analysts make forecasts about future products and trends. In the latest report, CCS Insight predicted Apple would launch a foldable iPad in two years' time rather than start with a foldable iPhone. "Right now it doesn't make sense for Apple to make a foldable iPhone. The analyst said that a foldable iPhone would likely need to cost around $2,500. Predictions about a foldable iPhone meanwhile have been around for at least four years.

But there's one thing that's just a little silly about it: the $99 optional Apple Pencil requires a dongle to charge and pair with the new iPad. Unlike the iPad Air, iPad Pro and iPad Mini, the new iPad only supports the first-generation Apple Pencil. But since Apple made the move from a Lightning port to USB-C, you can't just stick the Apple Pencil into the iPad's charging port to juice it up. You'll plug the Apple Pencil into that dongle, and then plug the dongle into the iPad. So, just a word of warning to people who may already own an Apple Pencil, or who may be upgrading to the new iPad: prepare to spend another $9 if you want to use the Pencil with this iPad.

And it may help the company boost its iPad sales, which dipped 14% during Apple's last holiday quarter and 2% during the most recent quarter. The new iPad will feature the M2 chip, which is the newest chip in the current MacBook Air laptop, the report said. The upgrade is the first to Apple's iPad Pro in a year and a half and it should offer a speed boost of 20%, according to the report. But the tablets may not offer many other new features and will reportedly look the same as current models.
