CNN —Former US Open champion Emma Raducanu won her first ever match against a top-10 player on Wednesday, upsetting Jessica Pegula in the round of 16 at the Rothesay International in Eastbourne, England. 5, saving a match point en route to a 4-6 7-6(8) 7-5 victory. The technology to store renewable energy for long periods hasn’t quite been mastered, either. The transatlantic interconnector is still a proposal, but networks of green energy cables are starting to sprawl across the world’s sea beds. Shares of Rivian soared roughly 40% during after-hours trading Tuesday – two days ahead of an investor event for Rivian, which has been under pressure from Wall Street due to its cash burn and significant losses. The Detroit automaker sold a majority of its Rivian shares by 2023 after walking back a plan to codevelop EVs with the company. Rivian reported $7.86 billion in cash, cash equivalents and short-term investments to end March, with more than $9 billion in total liquidity.

BEIJING — China's ByteDance is working with U.S. chip designer Broadcom on developing an advanced AI processor, two sources familiar with the matter told Reuters, a move that would help TikTok's owner secure sufficient supply of high-end chips amid U.S.-Sino tensions. Securing AI chips is crucial for ByteDance to make its algorithms more powerful. To support its AI push, ByteDance has stockpiled Nvidia chips, according to a separate person who was briefed on the matter. Bytedance currently has hundreds of semiconductor-related job openings posted, including 15 for ASIC chip designers, according to checks of its website. It has also been poaching top people from other Chinese AI chip firms, according to one of the sources who has direct knowledge of this issue.

Sure enough, the next day began a historic ascent of Apple stock, an in-your-face rally that many thought made no sense. There's a coalescence of two themes, high speed, accelerated computing and increasingly intelligent AI, and neither works without Nvidia chips. I know that it seems impossible to ponder Nvidia's stock going any higher or passing Apple and Microsoft and staying ahead of it. Ask yourself, does any company match Jensen and Nvidia right now? CNN —The Biden administration is taking the unprecedented step of banning US companies and citizens from using software made by a major Russian cybersecurity firm because of national security concerns, Commerce Department Secretary Gina announced Thursday. Thursday’s announcement comes after CNN reported in April that the Biden administration was preparing to issue an order that would prevent US companies and citizens from using Kaspersky software. US government agencies are already banned from using Kaspersky Lab software, but action to prevent private companies from using the software is unprecedented. Founded in Moscow in 1997, Kaspersky Lab grew into one of the world’s most successful anti-virus software companies alongside American rivals like McAfee and Symantec. Some of the speculation and suspicion from US officials about the Russian company centers around Eugene Kaspersky, a charismatic computer expert who co-founded Kaspersky Lab in Moscow in 1997.
