LONDON — Kate, the Princess of Wales, held her first official engagement Tuesday since announcing last week that she had completed her cancer treatment. Kate, wife of Prince William, the heir to the British throne, attended a private meeting at Windsor Castle, according to the Royal Circular, a daily briefing of royal activities published in the Times of London newspaper. The Royal Foundation is the main philanthropic vehicle for William and Kate, supporting community groups that work on early years education, homelessness and conservation projects. The princess has appeared in public since she revealed she was undergoing cancer treatment in March, including at the men’s final at Wimbledon in July. It emerged in February that Charles himself was receiving cancer treatment.

UBS strategist Patrick Palfrey identified stocks that have historically outperformed when the Fed lowers interest rates, a move that he expects will especially benefit smaller, more volatile and less-efficient companies. He expects this is true across the large-cap and small-cap universes represented by the S & P 500 and Russell 2000. Here are five S & P 500 stocks UBS expects can benefit most. After DWAC merged with Trump Media, those Class B shares were supposed to automatically convert to Class A stock at a 1:1 ratio. Analysts have come to see indivual investments in Trump Media as a proxy for supporting the Republican presidential nominee and betting on his political fortunes. Trump Media is embroiled in numerous other lawsuits with ARC and its founder, Patrick Orlando, along with others involved in the public merger. Trump Media in a filing in that same lawsuit on Monday sought an “emergency” court hearing.

McHenry, the outgoing chair of the House Financial Services Committee, said it was an '"outrage" that some politicians are publicly lobbying the central bank about rate cuts. "Senators that are trying to direct the Fed on rate policy are really demeaning their role. McHenry's comments came one day before the U.S. central bank is widely expected to start cutting interest rates for the first time since 2020. Coming in the middle of a presidential election cycle, the change in Fed policy has stirred speculation as to whether the central bank would be influenced by political considerations.

Trump won the presidency in 2016 by stunning Democrat Hillary Clinton to win all three states by a combined margin of about 80,000 votes. But, as in other states, Democrats have been concerned about the risk of depressed turnout and some gains for Trump among Black voters in Philadelphia. Eight years later, the two states split again, when Roosevelt comfortably won Pennsylvania and Michigan narrowly went to Republican Wendell Willkie. This trio of states has arguably become the most consistent tipping point in American politics. In the nine elections since 1920 when they split their vote, the candidate who carried two of these three states won seven times.

Tito Jackson, an original member of the hit-making pop group the Jackson 5, has died, his family confirmed Monday. NBC Los Angeles spoke to a family member who confirmed the death. LONDON — Two alleged art thieves will appear in court in London next month accused of stealing “Girl With Balloon,” a famous painting by the mysterious British street artist Banksy. Larry Fraser, 47, from east London, and James Love, 53, from Essex, were both charged with non-residential burglary and placed in police custody on Thursday. The artwork — which shows a little girl letting go of, or perhaps reaching out for, a heart-shaped balloon — was stolen from a gallery in central London on Sept. 8 at 11:00 p.m, police said. The painting was the only item stolen and police said it had been recovered and would be returned to the gallery. The latest artworks from Banksy were a series of animal paintings dotted around London last month.

Uber riders in those cities can be matched with a driverless Waymo car for some trips, according to the companies. The expansion into Austin and Atlanta won't include Uber Eats at first, according to the Waymo spokesperson, but they're exploring that possibility for the future.
