Bill Maher arrives at the Vanity Fair Oscar party during the 94th Academy Awards in Beverly Hills, California, U.S., March 27, 2022. The WGA, on strike since early May, said they will resume talks on Wednesday. The WGA said it was "difficult to imagine" how Maher could host the show and still comply with strike rules. The proposed return of "The Drew Barrymore Show" to CBS drew picketers from the striking writers' and actors' unions as taping resumed last week. Following Barrymore, other popular talk shows, including "The Talk" and "The Jennifer Hudson Show" will not be returning during the WGA strike and the Screen Actors Guild strike.

Peter Orszag, incoming CEO of financial advisory Lazard, speaks at the 2023 Milken Institute Global Conference in Beverly Hills, California, U.S., May 2, 2023. REUTERS/Mike Blake/File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsNEW YORK, Sept 14 (Reuters) - Two weeks before Peter Orszag takes the helm as CEO of Lazard (LAZ.N), he is already setting an ambitious goal for the investment bank to double its revenue by 2030. Orszag outlined his plans for the 175-year-old firm in a memo to employees on Thursday, including a raft of personnel changes. The revenue aspirations are being locked in at a time when sluggish dealmaking has weighed on earnings and prompted Lazard to eliminate 10% of its workforce. Boosting revenue in asset management will require better distribution, improved investment performance and potentially an acquisition, Orszag wrote in the memo.

Buyers are increasingly going electric—some because electric shavers lead to far less landfill waste than disposable versions you’d replace daily or weekly. The back of the leg calls for pivoting heads, too, says Dr. Sarkar. “Many electric shavers have Lithium-ion batteries,” notes Dr. Sarkar—so carry-on would be your only option. Epilators, which do remove hair this way, sometimes get misclassified as electric shavers. So if you’re looking for something that will literally uproot your hair, electric shavers aren’t right for the job—but epilators are.

The case has been closely watched by the cryptocurrency and asset management industries, which have been trying for years to convince the SEC to approve a spot bitcoin ETF. Cboe Global Markets earlier this year filed a proposal with the U.S. SEC to list and trade shares of a spot bitcoin ETF by Ark Invest and 21Shares on the Cboe BZX exchange. The regulator has in recent years rejected dozens of applications for spot bitcoin ETFs, citing inadequate levels of trading surveillance that could leave the underlying spot market subject to fraud and manipulation.

New York CNN —Dick’s Sporting Goods warned Tuesday that retail theft is damaging its business and would lead to lower annual profits. Retail “shrink” is a term that refers to merchandise that goes missing due to theft, fraud, damage, accounting errors or other reasons. The retailer reported a large number of incidents of shoplifting and organized retail crime in its stores nationwide. Need and opportunity become forceful catalysts for driving up incidents of retail crime, experts said. According to the National Retail Federation, the industry’s biggest trade group, large-scale store theft is becoming a bigger part of retail shrink.

Philadelphia recently announced it would buy 91 properties containing green spaces and gardens. Studies show urban gardens can help keep neighborhoods cooler and perhaps reduce gun violence and depression. The urban garden he helped start nearly a decade ago on abandoned lots in West Philadelphia was finally protected. Thousands of properties tied up in the deal sat neglected for decades, and locals transformed some into urban gardens. Many Black and brown neighborhoods don't have enough green spaces, which makes residents more susceptible to extreme heat.
