But each day, the current state of the world dissuades me more and more from having children. Like many folks in Gen Z (those born between 1997 and 2012), my main concern is climate change. As environmental catastrophes reach a caliber we cannot predict or conceive, having children is becoming less of a risk I’m willing to take. Coupled with the resources and opportunities that the US provides, my hypothetical children likely wouldn’t be among the worst-affected by climate change. Under today’s environmental and political climate, I find it is better to regret not having children than regret having them.

Analysts polled by Reuters had forecast a net gain of 22,500 jobs and for the unemployment rate to tick up to 5.6% from 5.5% in September. The unemployment rate has risen four times in the past six months, and is now at the highest level since 6.5% in Jan 2022. The services sector gained 10,000 jobs, led by information, culture and recreation as well as health care and social assistance.

CNN —Singer Celine Dion was spotted at an ice hockey game in Las Vegas on Monday, in a rare public appearance. The NHL game was her first public outing in more than three years, according to media reports. Celine Dion visited the Montreal Canadiens after their game against the Vegas Golden Knights. celinedion/InstagramDropping in on the Canadian side after the game, Dion shared photos of herself and her three sons in the locker room with Canadiens head coach Martin St-Louis and some of the players. A video posted on the Montreal Canadiens’ Instagram page shows the “My Heart Will Go On” singer laughing and joking with the players after congratulating them on a good game.

QUILLOTA, Chile, Nov 3 (Reuters) - The Pan American Games show jumping competition ended in chaos on Friday, with Canada arguing a judging error had denied Amy Millar a place on the podium, triggering protests and appeals. Video showed that the barrier did drop but the Canadian protest argued it did so after Millar had crossed the finish line and completed her round. The U.S. later filed a counter appeal and could be seen engaged in an animated conversation with the Canadian team outside of the judges' meeting. "We just went all together, including the Canadian team, to watch the video, the video clearly shows she touched the fence," Ward, a five-time Olympian and double gold medallist told Reuters. Ward had no problem with Canada filing a protest but was happy officials made the decision they did.
