Online wait times for orders of the new iPhone 14 Pro are now up to 40 days on Apple's website. Ives expects roughly 8 million iPhones will be sold on the Black Friday weekend, down from 10 million a year ago, mainly due to these supply challenges.

The disclosure sparked a big rally in the stock as Buffett made Taiwan Semi Berkshire's 10th biggest holding at the end of September. Taiwan Semi is the biggest chip producer in the world by revenue, with clients like Nvidia and Qualcomm. By betting on Taiwan Semi, Buffett is essentially backing the Apple ecosystem and iPhone demand in coming years, he said. It's about 25% of their revenue... when you are betting on TS, you are really betting on Apple." 'Moat' Taiwan Semi has a unique quality that Buffett always looks for – and that is a competitive edge or the so-called wide moat.
Apple CEO Tim Cook holds the new iPhone 14 at an Apple event at their headquarters in Cupertino, California, September 7, 2022. Apple currently sources all of its processors from factories in Taiwan. TSMC said earlier this month that it is planning a second chip factory in Arizona because of "strong customer demand." Cook reportedly said that Apple was considering buying chips from factories in Europe, too.

Prices rose more than 10%, while Apple stabilized the prices it charged in retail stores, the complaint said. The combined product revenue of Cupertino, California-based Apple and Seattle-based Amazon topped $125 billion in this year's third quarter. Last month, an Italian administrative court scrapped a 173.3 million euro ($173.6 million) fine against Apple and Amazon by Italy's antitrust regulator for alleged price collusion.

Oct 27 (Reuters) - Over $200 billion in U.S. stock market value went up in smoke in extended trade on Thursday, after a weak forecast from Amazon (AMZN.O) added to a string of downbeat quarterly reports from Big Tech companies. Thursday's drop left Meta's stock market value at about $260 billion, with the one-time behemoth now about the 20th most valuable company on Wall Street.

Apple Inc. is adding pressure on suppliers to get on board with its carbon-neutrality goal, highlighting the difficulties in tackling greenhouse-gas emissions from global supply chains. The Cupertino, Calif.-based iPhone maker said Tuesday that it would review the work of suppliers to specifically decarbonize their Apple-related manufacturing, such as by running on 100% renewable energy, and track their yearly progress as it strikes supply agreements. Apple already requires suppliers to report overall emissions from their...
Foxconn said Tuesday that its factory in Zhengzhou, China — the world's largest assembly plant for Apple's iPhones — was hit with a small Covid outbreak. Zhengzhou, in central China's Henan province, has been battling a new wave of Covid this month. Foxconn's position highlights the balancing act required by manufacturing facilities to meet customer demand under Beijing's strict Covid policy. Apple still relies heavily on China for the majority of its iPhone production, but the Cupertino giant has looked to diversify its supply chain. Last month, Apple said that it has begun assembling its flagship iPhone 14 in India.

Tesla’s Apple-sized goals have cash risks

Returning cash to shareholders only works if the Austin, Texas-based company's Apple-sized (AAPL.O) dreams become reality. Tesla’s 17% operating margin beats the gas-guzzler businesses of rivals Ford Motor (F.N) and General Motors (GM.N) — whose EVs are less profitable still. Investors like David Einhorn and Carl Icahn demanded it use its cash pile to buy back sagging shares, and that bet paid off. But Apple started 2013 with $137 billion in cash and marketable securities; Tesla has $21 billion. Tesla delivered 343,830 cars in the quarter, up 42% year-over-year but 6% below the number of cars it manufactured.

Like many tech workers and investors, she moved to San Francisco from elsewhere — Michigan, in her case — and still feels invested in the politics of her home state. Whether there’s a tech expertise gap between Democrats and Republicans is difficult to measure. The Republican State Leadership Committee, which works to elect Republicans at the state level, didn’t respond to requests for comment. Some tech workers are in their third election cycles as volunteers, giving them a base of experience to work from. Given its size, Tech for Campaigns can test different messages and tactics across states.
