New York CNN —Finally, an emoji to represent us all is coming soon: An exhausted face with bags under its eyes. It’s one of eight new emoji that will appear on smartphones and computers next year, which also include a root vegetable, a harp, a leafless tree, a fingerprint, a shovel, a purple splatter, and a flag for the remote island in the English Channel called Sark. Emojipedia, a popular emoji reference site, released sample images a few months ago. Recently, the Unicode Consortium, the non-profit that oversees global emoji standards and new releases approved the new emoji lineup. The exhausted emoji face had the honors of winning the “most anticipated” emoji in the World Emoji Awards receiving more than 60% of the vote.

Minneapolis Federal Reserve President Neel Kashkari said Monday that he expects policymakers to dial down the pace of interest rate cuts after last week's half percentage point reduction. "I think after 50 basis points, we're still in a net tight position," Kashkari said in a CNBC "Squawk Box" interview. "Right now, we still have a strong, healthy labor market. In their latest economic projections, FOMC members indicated that rate is probably around 2.9%; the current fed funds rate is targeted between 4.75% and 5%. Speaking separately Monday morning, Atlanta Fed President Raphael Bostic indicated he expects the Fed to move aggressively in getting back to a neutral rate.

One global stock stands out as a "unique play" in the Nvidia and artificial intelligence supply chain, according to Jefferies. It's German semiconductor firm SUSS MicroTec , Jefferies said in a Sept. 17 report, calling it a "hidden gem" among European semiconductor firms. The investment bank initiated coverage of the stock at a buy rating and a target price of 76 euros ($84). The firm has "multi-layered exposure" to an advanced packaging technology called Chip-on-Wafer-on-Substrate, said Jefferies, explaining that it's used to make AI chips. SUSS sells its products to two major high bandwidth memory suppliers and TSMC, to be used in the production of that advanced packaging.

Takes the company public. 23andMe went public in 2021, jumping on the SPAC trend of the era, when a bunch of companies went public via “special purpose acquisition companies” — essentially shell-company mergers that let firms go public in a hurry when investor appetite is strong. 23andMe co-founder and CEO Anne Wojcicki, pictured in 2020. New York CNN —The Securities and Exchange Commission intends to seek sanctions against Elon Musk over his failure to appear for testimony in an investigation related to his takeover of Twitter, now called X, the regulator said in a court filing Friday. Earlier this year, a federal judge ordered Musk to testify as part of the SEC’s probe of the billionaire’s $44 billion acquisition. The agency is examining whether Musk followed the law when disclosing his purchases of Twitter stock and whether his statements in relation to the deal were misleading. The SEC asked the court to impose “meaningful conditional relief” if Musk does not appear at the new October testimony date. The SEC also said it intends to file a sanctions motion against Musk to recoup its travel costs for the cancelled testimony and for other relief.

Qualcomm recently approached struggling chipmaker Intel about a takeover, CNBC has confirmed. Intel shares initially popped on the news before closing up about 3%, while Qualcomm shares fell about 3% at the close. Intel shares are down 53% this year as investors express doubts about the company's costly plans to manufacture and design chips. Intel has also missed out on the artificial intelligence boom that's captured the attention of Wall Street. Intel was unsuccessful with its attempted acquisition of Tower Semiconductor, as was Qualcomm in its bid to acquire NXP Semiconductor.
