NEW YORK, May 3 (Reuters Breakingviews) - Eli Lilly’s (LLY.N) Mounjaro might turn out to be the biggest selling drug ever. The pharmaceutical giant is maximizing the diabetes treatment’s gain by using a golden ticket to speed its U.S. approval for use in a possibly bigger market, obesity. Lilly’s peak sales for treating obesity might be about 10 times as high, Jefferies analysts estimate. At the industry multiple of 5 times revenue, that would pad its $535 billion market value by $30 billion. Lilly may have secured a Willy Wonka-like golden ticket that allows its obesity drug to reach customers quicker.

By-the-wind sailors are beginning to wash up onto shores in California. Beaches from Dana Point to Point Reyes National Seashore have seen the creatures on their shores. Known by the scientific name Velella velella, the hydrozoa is actually a collection of polyps that float through the ocean using a translucent "sail" that sits upright on a flat, oval body to catch the wind. In 2014 and 2015, a Velella bloom resulted in billions of by-the-wind sailors washed ashore beaches from California to Washington. Dana Wharf Whale Watching did not immediately respond to Insider's request for comment.

Boeing Chief Executive Dave Calhoun said in an interview the planemaker got "support from the Biden administration and from key members of Congress every step of the way... The Biden Administration has done a terrific job in moving the ball forward and was instrumental in landing this purchase." A U.S. official said the Saudi contract was a "white whale" for Boeing, something the planemaker pursued for several years. Senior U.S. officials have been in regular engagement with the Saudis over the deal, but Biden did not have any direct talks with Saudi leaders.
