After seeing all my friends transformed into works of art, I finally decided to download the Lensa app. Lensa uses AI technology to turn 10-20 images into artwork across categories like anime, fairy princess, and pop. The service costs $3.99 for 50 images, and is a fun and interesting way to see AI technology at work. So I downloaded Lensa, the wildly popular app behind the digital self-portraits, made with AI technology that renders selfies into artwork. My 50 avatars were delivered in 10 categories of 5 images including Iridescent, Light, Stylish, Anime, Cosmic, Fantasy, Kawaii, Pop, Focus, and Fairy Princess.

WASHINGTON, Nov 29 (Reuters) - Russia is firing unarmed cruise missiles that were designed to carry nuclear warheads at targets in Ukraine to try to deplete Kyiv's stocks of air defenses, a senior U.S. military official said on Tuesday. The official, who declined to be named, was asked about a Nov. 26 assessment by Britain's military intelligence which said that Russia was "likely" removing nuclear warheads from cruise missiles and firing the unarmed munitions into Ukraine. Asked about the assertion, the U.S. military official told Pentagon reporters: "It's certainly something that they're trying to do to mitigate the effects of the air defense systems that the Ukrainians are employing." For that reason, the United States and other allies have focused on providing air defense supplies for Ukraine. The United States has already provided a range of air defense capabilities to Ukraine, including NASAMS air defense systems as well as more than 1,400 Stinger anti-aircraft systems and counter-artillery and air surveillance radars.
Nov 26 (Reuters) - Russia is likely removing nuclear warheads from ageing nuclear cruise missiles and firing unarmed munitions at Ukraine, Britain's military intelligence said on Saturday. Such a system will still produce damage through the missile's kinetic energy and unspent fuel. However, it is unlikely to achieve reliable effects against intended targets, the ministry added in its daily intelligence update posted on Twitter. "Whatever Russia's intent, this improvisation highlights the level of depletion in Russia's stock of long range missiles", the ministry said. Russia is likely firing cruise missiles with nuclear warheads removed into Ukraine, UK's defense ministry said. The defense ministry said that open source imagery appeared to show an AS-15 KENT air-launched cruise missile that had been shot down in Ukraine. Russian warship launching a cruise missile. US officials previously said that Russia is likely struggling to replenish its stockpiles due to sanctions and supply chain disruptions, the Associated Press reported. Russia has not provided any information about its missile supplies, and there is no data to assess it independently.
Cathie Wood championed Elon Musk as Twitter's CEO and endorsed his plans for the company. "If anyone in the US can do this, I think he can," the Ark Invest CEO and tech-stock guru said. Wood welcomed Musk's plan to make Twitter's algorithm more transparent and move away from human moderators. His plans are much needed according to Wood, who said Twitter "needed to be shaken up." As well as being a Musk fan, Wood is a longtime Tesla bull.
Nick Schrock, creator of orchestration tool Dagster and CEO of Elementl, is moving into a new role. Elementl runs the Dagster tool, an emerging product that competes with Airflow and Prefect. A hot open source project many thought was primed to unseat a data juggernaut is now shifting its leadership as it reckons with increased competition in the race to own a critical piece of data infrastructure. And while there likely remains room for an independent orchestration tool, insiders say it's unclear whether one will be able to substantially challenge Airflow. And there's consistent buzz among insiders over whether Dbt Labs will launch its own proper orchestration product.
CEO Jordan Tigani says it won't replace Snowflake but can carve its own niche in the data market. DuckDB, an open source database and analytics technology, was launched by the DuckDB foundation in 2019 to tackle this problem. It's designed for work with smaller chunks of data, which is the size most companies are actually typically analyzing, Tigani said. The round comes at a $175 million valuation with combined a $35 million series A funding round led by Andreessen-Horowitz and a $12.5 million seed funding round led by Redpoint. It could also be compared to the emerging Snowflake-endorsed data technology Iceberg (3,600 stars).

WASHINGTON, Nov 8 (Reuters) - The U.S. Treasury has broadened its justification for sanctioning virtual currency mixing service Tornado Cash on allegations it supports North Korea, despite criticism from users that the Treasury is targeting a service and not an organization. The move - which a Treasury representative said reflected the service's support for the North Korean government - still leaves Americans unable to send and receive money through the service. But the move had proven controversial in part because some argued that Tornado Cash was less an organization than a set of software. In a lawsuit filed this year, six Texan users of Tornado Cash said that Treasury officials had overstepped their jurisdiction by effectively blocking access to computer code. "Tornado Cash is not a person, entity, or organization.

CNN Business —In the week since Elon Musk took over Twitter, the number of people signing up for a small social network called Mastodon has surged. Ascannio/Adobe StockRochko said in an interview Thursday that Mastodon gained 230,000 users since October 27, when Musk took control of Twitter. And she pointed out that Twitter users may migrate to Mastodon in particular because its user experience is pretty similar to Twitter’s. But unlike on Twitter, where I can easily interact with a large audience, my Mastodon network is less than 100 followers. A social-media escape hatchI’m not quite ready to close my Twitter account, though; for me, Mastodon is a sort of social-media escape hatch in case Twitter becomes unbearable.
New York CNN Business —Twitter co-founder and former CEO Jack Dorsey stepped down from the company’s board earlier this year, but he’s staying involved with the social platform following its takeover by Elon Musk. Almost immediately after taking over the company, Musk dissolved Twitter’s board of directors. Later that year, Musk defended Dorsey when he was facing pressure from an activist investor, saying on Twitter, “I support @Jack as Twitter CEO. Dorsey stepped down as Twitter CEO last November and left its board of directors in May. In April, after Musk agreed to buy the company, Dorsey pledged his support for the takeover.
Iran appears to be using Chinese knock-offs of Western hardware in its suicide drones. According to a new report from the Institute for Science and International Security, these weapons appear to be built using Chinese parts that are based on Western designs. Iran has also designed its own parts that are based on these knock-off Chinese parts. And this Chinese engine is based on a British design. It's also unknown when specific Chinese parts arrived in Iran.
Russia sent newly mobilized reservist troops to Ukraine with "barely usable" rifles, UK intel says. Britain's defense ministry said some of these soldiers are using guns designed in 1959. Citing open source imagery, however, Britain's defense ministry said that mobilized reservists who did show up with rifles were often issued with AKM assault rifles. Britain's defense ministry said many of the AKM rifles given to Russian reservists are "likely in barely usable condition following poor storage." Beyond the newly mobilized reservists, Russian forces — like conscripts — have had to use decades-old rifles that exited production long ago.
After taking over Twitter, Elon Musk said he is open to allowing longer videos and tweets on the platform. In a tweet late Saturday, the billionaire and self-proclaimed "Chief Twit" said he was open to letting people post longer videos and tweets. Musk also hinted he'd consider extending the length of videos users can post on Twitter. "Is there a chance of increasing the allowable length of videos so that we can post longer videos? "I'm worried about de facto bias in 'the Twitter algorithm' having a major effect on public discourse," Musk tweeted.
New York CNN Business —After spending months attempting to get out of his deal to buy Twitter, Elon Musk officially owns the hugely influential platform. Musk has said Twitter, under his leadership, would have more lenient content moderation policies. Unbanning Trump and other accountsBut the most striking early change could come from who is and is not allowed on a Musk-owned Twitter. Musk, for his part, has focused on bringing back one of Twitter’s most prominent former users: Trump. The same day he sent his letter to Twitter attempting to revive the deal, Musk was widely panned for comments he made on the platform about Russia’s invasion of Ukraine.
A New York attorney was arrested this week on several January 6 charges. Prosecutors used facial recognition technology to identify John O'Kelly in photos from the siege. In 2019, O'Kelly filed a lawsuit on behalf of the group against the Justice Department in an effort to present the organization's conspiracy theory to a grand jury. Online sleuths had come to know the yet-identified O'Kelly as "MidWhiteCrisis," according to NBC, due to his inclusion on the FBI's Capitol Violence page. More than 900 people have been arrested in connection with the Capitol attack and more than 400 have pleaded guilty thus far.
WASHINGTON — The FBI on Thursday arrested a New York lawyer who is accused of trying to disarm an officer protecting the U.S. Capitol during the Jan. 6 riot, law enforcement sources told NBC News. Authorities say O'Kelly tried to "disarm" a D.C. Metropolitan Police Department officer on Jan. 6 by grabbing an officer's baton and "attempting to wrestle it from the officer’s hands." U.S. Attorney’s Office for the District of ColumbiaO’Kelly, known to online sleuths investigating the Jan. 6 attack as “MidWhiteCrisis,” was No. A judge dismissed the lawsuit in March 2021, and an appeals court upheld the lower court ruling in August 2022. The Levine Impact Lab has launched in partnership with the Honnold Foundation – a solar-technology non-profit founded by Levine's friend, renowned rock climber Alex Honnold. The idea is to bring Silicon Valley startup-like training to non-profits, particularly select organizations already involved and vetted by the Honnold Foundation. "Just because you're a non-profit versus a for-profit tech company, everyone runs into the same issues.
