And right now, the presidential campaigns’ dollars are talking about the “blue wall” — and about defining Kamala Harris. But there’s an equal amount of contrast spots, as well as positive ads telling the affirmative case for Harris. Pennsylvania is drawing far and away the most ad spending this month, from both parties. While Pennsylvania drew almost 20% of Democratic presidential ad spending and 11% of Republican spending over this period in 2020, it’s drawing more than a quarter of each party’s spending this year. Meanwhile, a longtime swing state, Iowa, has ceased to be a main battleground — with a resulting drop in ad spending.

Murdoch and his eldest children descended on a Reno courthouse to appear for evidentiary hearings in a secret trial to determine whether the 93-year-old can alter the family trust that he established decades ago, giving his four oldest children equal votes over the future of his conservative media empire after he dies. Murdoch wants to amend the trust so that his eldest son and chosen successor, Lachlan, will remain in charge for decades to come. But the three other Murdoch children — James, Elisabeth and Prudence — oppose the change, and have challenged it in court. In the coming days or weeks, a probate commissioner will issue a report and recommendation on whether Murdoch can change the family trust, according to Elyse Tyrell, an attorney in Las Vegas who specializes in trusts and estates. Each party will then have 10 days to object to his report and recommendation, Tyrell said.

A Democratic group is launching a legal fund to help secretaries of state in key states defend against an anticipated post-election deluge of lawsuits. The group began aggressively raising money and campaigning to elect Democratic secretaries of state, who oversee elections in many states, in the wake of former President Donald Trump's false claims of voter fraud in 2020. It first funneled money to deal with postelection litigation to then-Arizona Secretary of State Katie Hobbs in 2022 to deal with postelection litigation. “We have a bunch of pro-democracy secretaries of state that we want to support. In today's big story, why you should care about a potential Intel-Qualcomm deal , even if it might not work. Getting all that varied experience has proved particularly beneficial for TSMC in the age of cutting-edge mobile and AI chips. The US needs Intel to keep (and get better at) manufacturing chips. The problem with that is that this manufacturing business would have almost no customers, and would fall even further behind TSMC. Experts seem incredibly skeptical about a Qualcomm deal going through.

And while polls may be tight, the money race isn't — Harris is outspending Trump by approximately $5 million every single day, according to the most recent federal filings. Harris is outspending Trump in ad buys in every single swing state, Bloomberg reported based on data from AdImpact. Nebraska Republicans dominate the state's politics, including its officially non-partisan, one-house legislature. The Nebraska Examiner reported that without McDonnell, Republicans have "no path" unless a Democrat or nonpartisan lawmaker changes their mind. Nebraska and Maine are the only states that award some of their Electoral College votes by congressional district. In 2020, President Joe Biden carried the Omaha-area 2nd District and its one Electoral College vote. If she carries the Omaha-area vote, she could win by holding onto Pennsylvania, Michigan, and Wisconsin — the so-called "Blue Wall" states.

That’s why Maricopa County has spent over $864,000 in federal funds and more than $3 million in county funds to bolster its election security and processes over the past four years. Officials readily shared their worries with CNN, citing death threats, harassment, baseless lawsuits, onerous public-records requests and various security threats spurred by false claims about voter fraud. Amid these challenges, budgets for election security have been squeezed in several ways. Thousands of election workers across the country have reported receiving harassing, offensive or hostile communications, including since the 2022 midterms, according to the Department of Justice’s Election Threats Task Force. As recently as Tuesday, Trump threatened to prosecute and imprison election officials if he wins in November, as he cast doubt on the integrity of the upcoming election.

The main national body of the Teamsters union may have declined to endorse a candidate for the 2024 presidential election, but that hasn't stopped local units from doing so. The teamsters have generally backed Democrats for president in recent races. And while the Teamsters' official non-endorsement was a clear setback for Harris, the action has not stopped individual Teamsters units from offering their own statements of support. WASHINGTON — The Supreme Court on Friday rejected Green Party presidential nominee Jill Stein’s last-ditch request to be included on the ballot in Nevada, a key swing state. The court in a brief unsigned order left in place a decision by the Nevada Supreme Court that blocked Stein from appearing on the ballot over a dispute concerning whether the Green Party had submitted the correct paperwork. Jay Sekulow, an ally of former President Donald Trump, represented the Green Party. In Nevada, which is expected to be closely contested, the Democrats sued to ensure Stein was not on the ballot. The case arose from correspondence between the Nevada Green Party and state officials this year over language to include on its petition seeking signatures to appear on the ballot.
