Michigan voters passed a constitutional amendment known as Proposal 3 that enshrines the right to an abortion by nearly 55%, according to Edison Research. The victories for abortion rights suggested that voters of all political stripes are balking at the severe abortion restrictions that several Republican-led states have enforced since the U.S. Supreme Court gutted federal abortion rights in June. The outcomes of the ballot questions, particularly in a swing state like Michigan, could set the stage for future state campaigns to proactively reinstate abortion rights. The mood was jovial as the "yes" votes on the Michigan amendment outpaced "no" votes across the state. Michigan Reproductive Freedom For All, a coalition of reproductive rights and progressive groups, led the petition to get the amendment on the ballot.

Nov 8 (Reuters) - Republicans have picked up a net six seats in the U.S. House of Representatives that had previously been held by Democrats with 161 of 435 races not yet called, Edison Research projected on Tuesday. For House races, Edison Research is tracking the net number of seats that flip from one party to another, as opposed to the net gain or loss of overall seats by either party. So far, Republicans have won 169 seats in the 435-seat House and Democrats have won 105 seats, Edison projected. Edison projected that there had been no net gain or loss in Senate seats for either party with 23 of 35 races called. Republicans would need to pick up one Senate seat to capture control of the chamber.

But Warnock has not yet reached the 50% threshold needed to avoid a runoff, according to data from Edison Research. It was one of two Senate seats up for grabs in the formerly reliably Republican state. So far, Warnock's campaign has spent $135.8 million, while Walker's campaign has spent $32.4 million, according to data from the Federal Election Commission.

Deutsche began coverage Monday of a pair of satellite imagery ventures, saying the space stocks have potential for "growth similar to software companies." The firm issued buy ratings for Planet and BlackSky , with Deutsche analyst Edison Yu noting that both companies are "generating substantial revenue now." Deutsche has a $7 price target on the stock, representing a 32% climb from current levels. Deutsche noted that "BlackSky has been more inconsistent operationally," but the company's software and "lucrative" government contracts "ultimately make it an attractive strategic target given the current depressed valuation." Deutsche has a $3 price target on BlackSky shares, essentially double their current trading level – with the stock down 63% this year.
Republicans would need to pick up five seats to take a majority in the House and just one to control the Senate. "When it comes to knowing the results, we should move away from talking about Election Day and think instead about election week," said Nathan Gonzales, who publishes the nonpartisan newsletter Inside Elections. BLUE MIRAGE, RED MIRAGEThe earliest vote tallies will be skewed by how quickly states count mail ballots. States including Pennsylvania and Wisconsin don't allow officials to open the envelopes until Election Day, leading to a possible "red mirage" in which Republican-leaning Election Day ballots are reported earlier, with many Democratic-leaning mail ballots counted later. California typically takes weeks to count all its ballots, in part because it counts ballots postmarked by Election Day even if they arrive days afterward.

A look at the day ahead in U.S. and global markets from Mike Dolan. U.S. Treasury yields are on the rise again as Fed rate futures now expect a terminal rate as high as 5.15% by May, with pricing for end-2023 rates just shy of 5% too - half a point higher than where futures had priced the terminal rate just one month ago. European Central Bank President Christine Lagarde said the ECB must be "attentive" to Fed policy decisions as it influences global markets - but it cannot just mirror moves in Washington. Morning Bid: Full of energy

Global stocks just won't lie down, doggedly clinging to hopes that central banks will ease off the policy brakes or that China might ease COVID curbs, just as energy firms reap massive windfall profits. Everything from central bank speculation, big rotations of equity sectors and talk of yearend seasonal flows in a U.S. election year are all cited. And after a downbeat start to the week, stocks jumped back yet again on Tuesday - even on some pretty thin reasoning. Underperforming Hong Kong and China stocks surged late in the day, with the former closing up more than 5%, after social media chatter that China was planning some reopening from strict COVID curbs in March. Energy sector earnings show clear winners from the year's Ukraine-related price shock.

Elon Musk owning Twitter should give everyone pause

Elon Musk, the mercurial billionaire, had agreed to buy Twitter for $44 billion the month before only to begin raising doubts about the deal soon after. Now, Musk joins the list of rich, white men who single-handedly control social platforms that collectively reach and shape the lives of billions of people around the world. And Musk, who will reportedly have “absolute control over Twitter” according to a shareholders’ agreement, promises to be uniquely disruptive. To those in the first camp, Musk serving as the sole decider at Twitter may be cause for celebration. Elon Musk is a conglomerate, and each arm of his empire potentially gives him more leverage, real or imagined, in advocating for the others.

FRANKFURT/LONDON, Oct 20 (Reuters) - Morgan Stanley's infrastructure investment arm is weighing a sale of a 40% stake in German wind and solar power project developer PNE AG (PNEGn.DE) after being approached by potential suitors, three people familiar with the matter said. PNE confirmed on Thursday that Morgan Stanley and Photon Management intend to enter into open-ended preliminary talks with potential interested parties regarding Photon's stake in PNE. Photon, which is controlled by Morgan Stanley, is PNE's largest shareholder. Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP) acquired the PNE stake following a failed takeover attempt in 2020. Buying the whole stake would trigger a mandatory takeover bid for all of PNE under German stock market rules.
Morgan Stanley Infrastructure Partners (MSIP) acquired the PNE stake following a failed takeover attempt in 2020. PNE, which has a project pipeline of more than 9 gigawatt and a generation portfolio worth 261 megawatt, has a current market capitalisation of 1.4 billion euros ($1.38 billion), valuing Morgan Stanley's stake at 560 million euros. Buying the whole stake would trigger a mandatory takeover bid for all of PNE under German stock market rules. A potential sale of MSIP's participation would result in chunky profits given the investment bank bought in at 4.00 euros per share and saw PNE's value grow to 18.50 euros. News about the potential stake comes in the wake of major renewables deal in recent weeks, including RWE's RWEG.DE $6.8 billion purchase of Con Edison's ED.N cleantech unit and BP's BP.L $4.1 billion takeover of U.S. biogas producer Archaea LFG.N.
YouTube expands audio and podcast advertising for brands

Oct 17 (Reuters) - Alphabet Inc's (GOOGL.O) YouTube will expand ways for advertisers to reach music and podcast listeners and viewers on connected televisions, the company said on Monday. The announcements come as the advertising industry has struggled amid record-high inflation and supply-chain disruptions, which have caused some brands to pull back on marketing budgets. The streaming video platform said it will expand audio advertising globally to allow brands to market to people who use YouTube to listen to music or podcasts. Although YouTube is better known for watching video, the platform is the second-most popular service for listening to podcasts, the company said, citing a report by Edison Research. Brands can purchase the package to "own" major moments, such as sporting events or product launches, Weinstein said.
