Trump will appear in court Tuesday on charges related to hoarding top-secret documents. A look at the Clinton and Trump investigations and what separates them:'But her emails!' That decision returned to haunt her when, in 2015, intelligence agencies' internal watchdog alerted the FBI to potentially hundreds of emails containing classified information. FBI investigators ultimately concluded Clinton sent and received emails containing classified information on that non-classified system, including information classified at the top-secret level. So what's the difference between the Clinton and Trump cases?

Writers picket in front of Netflix on Sunset Boulevard in Hollywood, California, as the Writers Guild of America goes on strike, May 2, 2023. Hollywood producers have struck a tentative deal with film and TV directors, but that doesn't mean we should expect sudden resolutions to the writers strike or talks with the actors union. Meanwhile, the Writers Guild of America is entering the second month of its strike. During the last writers strike in 2007 and 2008, which lasted 100 days, a studio deal with the DGA prompted writers to head back to the bargaining table. "The AMPTP will not be able to negotiate a deal for writers with anyone but us."

Keyser thanked other industries for their solidarity, including the Directors Guild. We have always been strong enough to get the deal we need using writer power alone.”The 19,000 Directors Guild members would see a 5% wage increase in the first year, 4% in the second and 3.5% in the third year. During the last WGA strike in 2007 and 2008, a studio deal with the DGA prompted writers to head back to the bargaining table. If approved, it could offer a blueprint for the striking writers and upcoming talks between studios and SAG-AFTRA, the union representing Hollywood actors. In the DGA's agreement, directors secured wage increases starting at 5% the first year, an increase in residuals from streaming, and a guarantee that "generative AI cannot replace the duties performed by members." AI has emerged as a major concern of writers and actors, who see their jobs as especially vulnerable to the new technology. The WGA work stoppage has disrupted production of late-night shows and shut down high-profile projects such as Netflix's "Stranger Things" and a "Game of Thrones" spinoff.

New York CNN —Fitch Ratings is keeping the United States on watch for a potential credit rating downgrade even after Congress passed a last-minute bill to avert a disastrous default. Although the resolution to the debt ceiling fight is a “positive,” Fitch expressed deep concern about the recurring brinksmanship and worsening polarization in Washington. That reasoning is similar to the rationale behind the downgrade by S&P in 2011 – an unprecedented step that occurred after Congress agreed to raise the debt ceiling. The latest debt ceiling battle has prompted more calls for reform or even eliminating the debt ceiling. This isn’t the first time the credit ratings firm has sounded the alarm about the messy state of affairs in America.

How to train and support a new generation of writers is a sticking point in contract negotiations between the WGA, which represents 11,500 film and TV writers, and Hollywood's major studios. Netflix Inc (NFLX.O) and other streaming services began crafting shorter series in "mini rooms" with fewer writers. The WGA, however, is seeking a requirement for at least six TV writers per series, with half of them being employed throughout the production. Now, half of all writers work at minimum salary levels, the WGA said. "I want to be part of fighting for a better future," Smith said while holding a "Writers Guild of America On Strike" sign.

Arsenal win 2-0 at Newcastle to stay in title hunt

NEWCASTLE, England, May 7 (Reuters) - Arsenal showed no sign of raising the white flag in the Premier League title race with a 2-0 victory at Newcastle United on Sunday to close the gap on leaders Manchester City to one point. Newcastle stay third on 65 but Manchester United could overtake them later on Sunday if they win at West Ham United and Liverpool will sense some anxiety as they continue to chase. They also had the bitter memory of a 2-0 defeat at Newcastle a year ago that scuppered their top-four hopes. But this Arsenal side, despite the recent wobbles that have cost them top spot, are made of much sterner stuff. Pope came to Newcastle's rescue again in stoppage time at the end of a frenetic first half, keeping out Odegaard's shot with his legs after the Norwegian looked favourite to score.
