One of the world’s largest gambling firms, MGM shut down its systems after detecting the attack to contain damage, it said. It expects to also incur less than $10 million as a related one-time cost in the quarter ended on Sept. 30. After the attack last month, customers posted social media images showing slot machines with error messages and queues at hotels in Las Vegas. The private data of customers who used MGM services before March 2019, including contact information, gender, date of birth and driver’s license numbers, was breached, the company said. The MGM data breach, which the FBI is investigating, is a vivid example of how large organizations remain vulnerable to cybercrime.

Bottles of Clorox bleach are displayed for sale on the shelves of a Wal-Mart store in Rogers, Arkansas, June 4, 2009. "The company expects to experience ongoing, but lessening, operational impacts in the second quarter as it makes progress in returning to normalized operations," it said in a statement. A Clorox spokesperson said the company had informed law enforcement about the attack but had no further comment. The company expects a loss per share of between 35 cents and 75 cents in the quarter ended on Sept. 30, and for net sales to fall by 23% to 28% from a year earlier. "The impact from the cybersecurity attack more than offset the benefits of pricing, cost savings and supply chain optimization," Clorox said.

LAS VEGAS (AP) — A self-described gangster who police and prosecutors say masterminded the shooting death of Tupac Shakur in Las Vegas in 1996 is due to make his first appearance Wednesday before a Nevada judge. In mid-July, Las Vegas police raided Davis’ home, drawing renewed attention to one of hip-hop music's most enduring mysteries. The car was stopped at a red light near the Las Vegas Strip when a white Cadillac pulled up on the passenger side and gunfire erupted. Shot multiple times, Shakur died a week later at age 25. Sheriff Kevin McMahill, who oversees the Las Vegas Metropolitan Police Department, has acknowledged criticism that his agency was slow to investigate Shakur's killing.

Clorox on Wednesday warned that its sales and profit took a big hit during the quarter ending Sept. 30, largely due to the after effects of a cyberattack that significantly affected operations. The bleach and cleaning products maker said it expects net sales to decrease 23% to 28%. Clorox also said the cyberattack, which it disclosed in August, continues to hurt production, although the effect is lessening. Clorox said it is still assessing what effect the hack could have on the current fiscal year and beyond. MGM also warned in September that the attack could have a material effect on company finances.

Kyiv's forces have used these weapons to increase attacks on high-profile Black Sea Fleet targets. Russia's Black Sea Fleet warships take part in the Navy Day celebrations in the port city of Novorossiysk on July 30, 2023. A little over a week after the shipyard attack, Ukraine bombarded the nearby headquarters of the Black Sea Fleet during a meeting of Russia's naval leadership. Russia has also seemingly demonstrated poor judgment in assessing Ukraine's capacity to actually carry out such impactful strikes on Black Sea Fleet targets, Harvey said. One variant that could help Kyiv is the M39 cluster missile, which has nearly 1,000 submunitions. Rice has lobbied for Washington to send cluster munitions since July 2022, and his efforts have also focused on cluster rockets and missiles. Fewer of these were produced compared to the older M39 cluster variant, military research indicates. That's what ATACMS cluster missiles will help do, he said.
