AMD launched the Instinct MI325X accelerator on Thursday, and shipping starts later this fall. The new chip offers better performance than Nvidia's H200 yet lags behind Blackwell, analysts say. Nvidia announced in March the Blackwell series, which is set to ship in the fourth quarter of this year. CNN —The New York Yankees clinched an American League Championship Series (ALCS) spot on Thursday night with a 3-1 win over the Kansas City Royals which saw them take the American League Division Series (ALDS) by the same score. Starter Gerrit Cole was the game’s dominant force, giving up just one run and six hits across seven innings, striking out four. The victory sees New York advance to the 19th Championship Series in its history, four more than any other franchise. Kansas City, meanwhile, has now lost its last nine games at Kauffman Stadium. It was the closest Kansas City would come, Aaron Judge recording the final out in the ninth to send New York through.

A major part of the fears is that the US’ influence with Israel has appeared to be steadily waning over the last year. Ahead of the latest monthly inflation reading, consumers are still coming to terms with the sticker shock of everyday goods and services prices — and lingering uncertainty about the economy. The pace of consumer price growth was expected to have remained largely unchanged in September, according to Dow Jones estimates. Harris has narrowed the gap in some surveys about which presidential candidate would be better on economic issues, but Trump still leads on that metric. Analysts generally agree that’s a sign the economy remains on solid footing, at least according to the data. Today’s inflation numbers could cause Wall Street to pare back expectations of an interest-rate cut at the Federal Reserve’s next meeting in November.

Vice President Kamala Harris' presidential campaign operation crossed the $1 billion fundraising threshold in September, two months after she took over as the Democratic Party's 2024 standard bearer, according to two people familiar with the numbers. That figure includes money raised by the campaign committee itself and by a campaign-affiliated joint fundraising committee that also collects cash for the Democratic National Committee and state parties. The staggering pace suggests Harris has been able to sustain enthusiasm among donors, large and small, as the campaign enters the stretch run before the Nov. 5 election. Presidential campaigns tend to take in more money as an election nears, but a clip of roughly half a billion dollars a month is unheard of. Harris has opened up a huge cash advantage over her Republican rival, Trump, who had raised just $309 million for his campaign through the end of August.

While Harris has gained ground on stewardship of the economy, Trump still leads in most surveys about the issue, which frequently ranks as the top concern for voters. The Harris campaign and Democratic allies believe she must erode that advantage and at least fight it to a draw. Tim Walz, argued in the recent debate that Trump’s economy was weak even before the Covid-19 pandemic hit. The economic issue is still Trump’s core advantage and one of the only reasons this race is as close as it is.”Still, Harris is performing better than Biden did on the economy against Trump. “People almost always say ‘I hate him but,’ or ‘I like him and’ — ‘but he did a good job on the economy,’ ‘the economy is better under him,’” she said.

NBC News reported last week that FEMA put out a call for volunteers for a “surge force” in mid-September, citing a “severe shortfall” in some of its disaster response teams. The relationship between Trump and Putin has long been a source of controversy. AdvertisementWith only a month to go before the presidential election, Donald Trump's relationship with Russian President Vladimir Putin has once again come under the spotlight. In a forthcoming book, journalist Bob Woodward says that the former president and Putin have a closer friendship than previously known. The Ukraine war has already roiled markets for food, oil, gas, and other products, and wider conflict could have an even more devastating impact. If Russian President Vladimir Putin is victorious in Ukraine, it may embolden Chinese leader Xi Jinping to invade Taiwan.
