Costco and Sam's Club might be happy for the new customers, but they're likely less eager about those who share membership cards to make the purchases. Wholesale retailers like Costco and Sam's Club have long appealed to consumers who shop for big families or parties. But some single people say a Costco membership makes sense for them thanks to benefits like savings on gas. Are you a shopper or employee at Costco or Sam's Club with a story idea to share?

And while few shoppers would save their old grocery receipts, using apps like Instacart keep your order history for years. Now, some customers are using those past orders to discover inflation's highly personal impact on them. AdvertisementIn a video on TikTok, White shared his experience using Instacart's "reorder items" function, explaining how a $35 order skyrocketed to more than $62 in the past five years. (Several commenters suggested this was due to the app replacing some out-of-stock items with more expensive offerings from third-party sellers.) White told BI the response to his video, which has nearly a million views, has been very polarized.

The travel industry is in the midst of another hot summer as Americans hit the road and make for the airport to take advantage of slightly cheaper flights and gas. But the 2024 vacation outlook isn’t all sunny: Like the rest of the American consumer experience this year, it is sharply divided. Many richer consumers — always the lifeblood of the travel industry — are feeling good this year as a strong stock market and rising home values boost their wealth. The gulf between higher- and lower-income consumers has been widening for years, but it is expected to show up especially clearly in travel this summer. Budget hotel chains, by contrast, are expected to report a pullback.

High inflation readings around the globe are concerning investors, José Torres, senior economist at Interactive Brokers, told CNN.

Cup Noodles is trying to change that — with a new s’mores-flavored instant ramen. While this marks Cup Noodles’ first foray into dessert territory, the noodle maker is no stranger to non-traditional ramen pairings. “Cup Noodles Campfire S’mores” is the latest in a series of seasonal flavors aimed at shaking up how consumers perceive the brand. Despite the saturated s’mores market, Saunders sees Cup Noodles as occupying a unique position that could get people talking because of ramen’s association with traditionally savory flavors. Stanton says younger buyers tend to be more playful with their tastes, adding that the s’mores flavor appeals to the connection between food and childhood memories.
