However, his aspirations to make UniCredit the "bank of Europe" are proving trickier to realise with the CEO setting a high bar for mergers and acquisitions in the euro zone's fractured capital markets, despite having what he describes as the biggest war chest among European lenders. UniCredit bought Greece's 9% stake in Alpha Bank (ACBr.AT) and struck a commercial partnership with the Athens-based lender, also acquiring most of its Romanian operations. The CEO works closely with a small M&A team he set up within UniCredit which constantly reviews potential deals in the markets and businesses where the bank operates, people with knowledge of the matter said. But uneven regulation across the euro zone, where progress towards a single banking market has stalled, complicates cross-border deals. Calling on Europe to follow his lead, Orcel says he has unlocked UniCredit's potential by giving it a unified strategy across its 13 markets.

On Tuesday, the bank launched a customizable dashboard designed to help Goldman's institutional investor clients understand the state of financial markets. Currently, that's somewhat of a messy and manual process spread across several platforms, Chris Churchman, Goldman Sachs partner and head of Marquee, told Insider. Nov 13 (Reuters) - U.S. brokerage firm BTIG on Monday filed a lawsuit against rival StoneX Group Inc (SNEX.O), accusing it of stealing trade secrets, and sought at least $200 million in damages. "Defendant StoneX recruited a team of BTIG traders and software engineers to exfiltrate BTIG software code and proprietary information and take it to StoneX," lawyers for BTIG wrote in the suit filed in the California Superior Court, San Francisco County. StoneX used the software code and proprietary information to build competing products and business lines "that generate tens of millions of dollars annually," they said. StoneX did not immediately respond to a Reuters' request for comment outside of regular business hours. BTIG's lawyers also requested the court issue an injunction to prevent StoneX from using or disclosing BTIG's trade secrets or other proprietary information.

Morgan Stanley highlighted several companies that are prepared to withstand — and even benefit from —consumers' shifting preferences this holiday season, as inflationary pressures dampen shoppers' budgets this quarter. According to Morgan Stanley's proprietary monthly survey, most holiday shoppers are looking to see 30% discounts, on average, before they begin spending this holiday season. A strong holiday season should benefit the entire airline industry given the ongoing demand for air travel among consumers across income brackets, according to Morgan Stanley. "Durable goods spending has slowed and that is expected to continue into the holiday season," Wilson said in the note. Toys could emerge as "relative winner" this season as they become a more top-of-mind purchase for parents during the holiday season, analyst Megan Alexander wrote.

Demand in the world's biggest smartphone market has long been in decline, with the COVID-19 pandemic and then a faltering economic recovery persuading customers to wait longer before upgrading their phones. IDC predicts the Chinese market is on track to achieve year-on-year sales growth in the fourth quarter after ten consecutive quarters of decline. U.S. chip designer Qualcomm also said last week that it is seeing strong demand from smartphone companies, especially in China. In a world first, artificial intelligence demonstrated the ability to negotiate a contract autonomously with another artificial intelligence without any human involvement. British AI firm Luminance developed an AI system based on its own proprietary large language model (LLM) to automatically analyze and make changes to contracts. LLMs are a type of AI algorithm that can achieve general-purpose language processing and generation. "This is just AI negotiating with AI, right from opening a contract in Word all the way through to negotiating terms and then sending it to DocuSign," she told CNBC in an interview. Clauses were analyzed, changes were made, and the contract was finalized in a matter of minutes.

Consumers started spending more on high-quality spirits during the pandemic shutdowns, which spurred a rise in premium beverage products, said Erlinda A. Doherty, an agave spirits expert and consultant. Both are proprietary spirits under Mexican laws, which are recognized in U.S. trade agreements. While he didn’t comment specifically on California’s foray into agave spirits, he said he believes Mexico can respond to the growing demand.
