But it was also a way for the big fund managers to grow their assets and rake in ever larger fees. Now only a mere 1,432 days away, the LA Olympics begins on July 14, 2028 with its opening ceremony and will run until July 30. So, what can we expect from the Los Angeles Olympic Games in four years’ time? Los Angeles has already hosted two Olympics, in 1932 and 1984, leaving enough infrastructure in place that there won’t be any new permanent venues built for 2028, and athletes will be housed at the University of California, Los Angeles (UCLA), instead of a purpose-built Olympic Village. Although it isn’t yet clear exactly where each and every sport will take place in Los Angeles, organizers have already announced some of their biggest venues.

PAGE, Ariz. — A large geological feature in southern Utah known as the “Double Arch,” the “Hole in the Roof” and sometimes the “Toilet Bowl” has collapsed, National Park Service officials said Friday. The popular arch in the Glen Canyon National Recreation Area fell Thursday, and park rangers suspect changing water levels and erosion from waves in Lake Powell contributed to its demise. Michelle Kerns, superintendent of the recreation area that spans the border of Utah and Arizona, said the collapse serves as a reminder to protect the mineral resources that surround the lake. The arch was formed from 190 million-year-old Navajo sandstone originating in the late Triassic to early Jurassic periods. The recreation area encompasses nearly 2,000 square miles and is popular among boaters and hikers.

Binghamton, New York, measured 1.94 inches of rain and Avoca, Pennsylvania, saw 1.43 inches, according to the service. More than 362,000 utility customers in Ohio, New York, Pennsylvania, New Jersey and Vermont were without power early Friday evening, according to utility tracker PowerOutage.us. Authorities in Berkeley County, South Carolina, said early Friday that 2 to 3 feet of fast-moving water was rushing through streets of Moncks Corner, north of Charleston, prompting multiple rescues.
