It's similar to how Google Lens directs users to suggestions based on items captured by their camera. The tool is trained on data from PriceRunner, a price comparison service Klarna acquired for close to $1 billion. PriceRunner competes with the likes of Amazon , Google's shopping comparison service Google Shopping, and French-founded firm Kelkoo. Klarna users will be able to point their phone at an item of clothing or gadget and find recommendations on similar products directly within the Klarna app. Still, regulators, not least the European Union, have become wary about the rapid advancement of generative AI technology, which generates new material in response to human inputs.

A signage is pictured at Travis Perkins, a timber and building merchants yard in St Albans, Britain October 22, 2020. The group said it now expected 2023 adjusted operating profit to be in the range of 175 million pounds ($215 million) to 195 million pounds, down from the 240 million pounds it had guided to in June, itself a 12% downgrade. Shares in Travis Perkins sunk by as much as 12% in early deals, hitting their lowest level for over three years. Travis Perkins said it remained confident in its longer-term outlook because Britain needed to build more homes and existing infrastructure would need to be decarbonised. Ruckel had to make a choice: Lower the price on Amazon or ask Chewy to raise the price of his product. The company also invests in tools to help sellers offer “competitive prices,” he said. Scott Needham, who sells on Amazon and runs a product-finder tool for other Amazon sellers, said he was “surprised by some of the points that the FTC selected.”watch now“I have over the years been very critical of Amazon,” Needham told CNBC. Competitors like Shopify and Walmart are increasingly viable alternatives for many categories of sellers, Needham said, not to mention rapidly growing Chinese e=commerce companies like Temu. Among those is a greater ability for Amazon sellers to communicate with buyers, offering select customers certain promotions.

The pickle-wardrobe mania is emblematic of what sets TikTok Shop apart from e-commerce competitors like Shopify and Amazon. Just like TikTok's non-shopping content, TikTok Shop is built around viral videos, be it a surge in viewer interest in pickle-jar sweatshirts or a mad rush to buy freeze-dried Skittles . For UK sellers, chasing virality still seems to be the defining characteristic of the TikTok Shop experience. KARACHI, Pakistan, Oct 5 (Reuters) - Pakistani ecommerce logistics startup Rider, backed by YCombinator, is looking into acquiring BlueEx (UNIV.PSX) the only listed Express Courier Logistics Company in Pakistan, it told Reuters on Thursday. "We are carving out and acquiring the e-commerce logistics business which currently operates under the brand name BlueEx. This is not an acquisition of Universal Network System Limited as a whole," said Salman Allana, founder and CEO of Rider. If the transaction goes through, this will be the first acquisition of a listed company by a startup, and the first major acquisition of a company listed on Pakistan's Growth Enterprise Market (GEM) board at the Pakistan Stock Exchange (PAKS.PSX). While Rider has not disclosed the transaction value, it claims the acquisition will make Rider the third largest player in the ecommerce logistics space.

REUTERS/Arnd Wiegmann//File Photo Acquire Licensing RightsSept 28 (Reuters) - A New York state judge on Thursday rejected a bid by Uber Technologies Inc (UBER.N), DoorDash Inc and Grubhub Inc to block New York City's novel law setting a minimum wage for app-based delivery workers. The law will require companies to pay delivery workers $17.96 an hour, which will rise to nearly $20 in April 2025. App-based delivery workers are usually treated as independent contractors rather than company employees, so general minimum wage laws do not apply to them. They say city officials based the minimum wage law based on flawed studies and statistics. The companies allege the city's surveys of delivery workers were biased and designed to elicit responses that would justify a minimum wage.

FTC Chairwoman Lina Khan testifies during a budget hearing of the House Energy and Commerce Subcommittee on Innovation, Data, and Commerce, April 18, 2023. Khan pointed to scale on Wednesday as a way Amazon leverages its power to dampen competition. Khan also explained the FTC's decision to define the market Amazon has monopolized as the online superstore. "We've had a whole set of antitrust cases that have succeeded when defining a market as the superstore market." This complaint applies that idea to the online world, Khan said, adding that there are functions that only an online superstore can serve through the "depth and breadth" of offerings.

The company officially launched Square Cash, now known as Cash App, in October 2013. Block now has a market cap of $26.82 billion, as of Wednesday afternoon, and Cash App is responsible for half of its revenue, Botha said. The judge assigned to the US Federal Trade Commission’s antitrust lawsuit against Amazon.com has recused himself from the case, according to a court document filed on Wednesday. Senior Judge John Coughenour was assigned to the case on Tuesday, when the antitrust lawsuit was filed against Amazon in federal court in Seattle. Coughenour, an appointee of Republican former President Ronald Reagan, did not cite a reason for dropping off the case in the court filing. The case has been re-assigned to US District Judge John Chun based on rotation, according to the document. Amazon is facing a series of similar but smaller private consumer cases filed in recent years that are pending in the same US federal court with Judge Ricardo Martinez and the FTC has argued its case should be assigned to the same judge to avoid duplication or conflict.
