A pair of shoes is pictured in a window of a Birkenstock footwear store in Berlin, Germany, January 21, 2021. Birkenstock is the latest high-profile listing to put investor focus on the initial public offering (IPO) market, which is gradually reopening after two relatively quiet years and a burst of activity in September. Due to recent price hikes, worldwide footwear sales are expected to rise just 2.9% over 2022, according to market research firm Euromonitor International. AllBirds (BIRD.O), Dr Martens (DOCS.L), and On Running (ONON.N) have all seen their market value fall since their IPOs in 2021. "When you look at the trend of other shoe companies that have IPO-ed, it doesn't give a great outlook for Birkenstock," Valechha said.

The company's owner, luxury goods giant LVMH Moët Hennessy Louis Vuitton, is expanding a program that trains people to become artisans who can make Tiffany's high-end jewelry. The company said Thursday it's begun a two-year bench jewelry apprenticeship program involving Tiffany and the Rhode Island School of Design. The move comes as Gen Zers rethink the idea of college as costs skyrocket and US student-loan payments are resuming following a pandemic hiatus. The programs work with colleges and universities to help conduct the training. LVMH has used apprenticeship programs to help develop the skilled artisans it needs for its brands.

COPENHAGEN, Oct 5 (Reuters) - The whirlwind success of weight-loss treatment Wegovy is providing a bonanza not just for its developer, Novo Nordisk (NOVOb.CO), but also for its home country of Denmark. Interviews with Danish economists, analysts, and executives at the Novo Nordisk Foundation which controls Novo highlight the benefits to the economy from jobs to private wealth - but also the potential pitfalls of relying on a single, outsized company. Record profits for Novo are projected to generate returns for the Foundation of more than $12 billion in coming years. Novo Nordisk added 3,500 jobs in Denmark in 2022, bringing the total in the country to 21,000 employees, out of 59,000 worldwide, a company spokesperson said. Before Wegovy, "we used to be kind of, 'Isn't Denmark the place where Stockholm is the capital?'"

Billionaire LVMH CEO Bernard Arnault has hit back at allegations of money laundering, after the Paris prosecutor's office confirmed it is investigating financial transactions between Arnault and Russian oligarch Nikolai Sarkisov. In a statement, Arnault's attorney, Jacqueline Laffont, said the allegations were "absurd and unfounded." The investigation, seemingly under way, will demonstrate these facts," she said in an emailed statement over the weekend. "Furthermore, who could seriously imagine that Bernard Arnault, who has developed over the past 40 years the leading French and European company, would pursue money laundering to expand a hotel? I believe the senseless nature of these allegations will be recognized by all."

As the subjects of a preliminary investigation, neither Arnault nor Sarkisov are suspects and neither has been accused of wrongdoing. The investigation, apparently ongoing, will not fail to prove this.”“Besides, who can seriously imagine that Mr Bernard Arnault, who has built the leading French and European company over 40 years, would engage money laundering to expand a hotel?” Laffont added. CNN has contacted Tracfin and Sarkisov for comment. PARIS, Sept 30 (Reuters) - A financial transaction under investigation in France involving LVMH owner Bernard Arnault was carried out in full respect of the law, his lawyer said on Saturday. The Paris public prosecutor's office confirmed on Friday that it is investigating financial transactions involving Arnault and Russian businessman Nikolai Sarkisov. In France, a prelimary investigation does not necessarily imply wrongdoing by those concerned, for whom the presumption of innocence applies. An unidentified Tracfin official told Le Monde the transactions involving Arnault and Sarkisov, who both acted through a complex web of legal entities, could have been aimed at concealing the origins of the funds used.
