The National Science Foundation is shutting down travel to McMurdo Station in Antarctica after 10% of the population tested positive for Covid-19. All travel to the U.S. outpost on Antarctica will be paused for the next two weeks due to the outbreak, the National Science Foundation said over the weekend. The halt on travel doesn’t apply to essential travel for health and safety reasons, the foundation said.

CNBC has canceled “The News with Shepard Smith ” in an effort to focus more on business-news coverage, the network said. The network, a unit of Comcast Corp.’s NBCUniversal, plans to replace the 7 p.m. show with a business news program at the beginning of next year, KC Sullivan, president of CNBC, said in a memo to staff sent Thursday. “The News with Shepard Smith” will air its final show later this month, he said.

SEOUL, Nov 2 (Reuters) - A North Korean ballistic missile landed less than 60 kilometres off South Korea's coast on Wednesday, the first time an apparent test had landed near the South's waters, leading to air raid warnings, officials said. The missile was one of three short-range ballistic missiles fired from the North Korean coastal area of Wonsan into the sea, South Korea's Joint Chiefs of Staff (JCS) said. The JCS said at least one of the missiles landed 26 kilometres south of the Northern Limit Line (NLL), a disputed inter-Korean maritime border. The missile landed 57 kilometres from the South Korean city of Sokcho, on the east coast, and 167 kilometres from Ulleung, where air raid warnings were issued. It was the first time a North Korean ballistic missile had landed near South Korean waters, JCS said.

MSP Sports will hold a majority stake in the X Games and handle day-to-day operations of the competition, the companies said. Astronaut James McDivitt , who commanded the Gemini IV and Apollo 9 missions, has died. He was 93 years old.
