CNN —Cristóbal del Solar wrote his name into the history books on Thursday, as the Chilean golfer shot a 13-under 57 at the Astara Golf Championship to set the new record for the lowest round ever shot at a PGA Tour-sanctioned event. Del Solar’s bogey-free feat bests the previous record set by Germany’s Stephan Jaeger and “Mr. “Incredible, man,” del Solar told reporters. “Hopefully, I’ll celebrate Sunday as well,” del Solar added. Last week, del Solar’s Chilean compatriot Joaquin Niemann shot a 12-under 59 at the LIV Golf season opener in Mayakoba, Mexico, carding an eagle and 10 birdies.

DOHA, Qatar (AP) — Chang Yani topped teammate Chen Yiwen on the 3-meter springboard Friday, giving the powerhouse Chinese team its eighth diving gold medal of the World Aquatics Championships. Beginning with their emergence in 1984, the Chinese have won 47 of 72 diving gold medals. Since the Olympic program doubled from four to eight events in 2000, they have been even more dominant — 38 gold medals in 48 events. CNN —Tiger Woods will make his first competitive start of the year at the Genesis Invitational next week, the 15-time major winner announced on social media Wednesday. Woods, chasing his first PGA Tour win since his record-equaling 82nd triumph at the Zozo Championship in October 2019, said he was “excited” to compete in an Instagram post announcing his participation on Wednesday. Woods celebrates his most recent PGA Tour victory at the 2019 Zozo Championship in Inzai, Japan. The duo finished tied-fifth out of 20 teams formed of past major or Players Championship winners and a family member at the Ritz-Carlton Club, six shots behind the winning pairing of Bernhard Langer and his son Jason.
