CNN —The Sovereign Military Order of Malta – also known as the Knights of Malta – isn’t just a religious Catholic order with nearly 1,000 years of history. If you have the energy for one extraordinary dinner this week, it’s well worth investing it in Genevieve Ko’s homemade spinach-filled dumplings with chile crisp. Her version, both steamed and fried, is a symphony of crackling, crunchy undersides with chewy-tender tops. Springy ramen noodles meet nubby ground chicken and crunchy peanuts, which are seasoned with a sesame-orange-soy mixture that’s been sizzled in hot oil. More traditional youvarlakia recipes use ground beef for the meatballs, and I’ve also made this soup with ground turkey. For something both sweet and light — for either breakfast or dessert — you could make my broiled grapefruit with brown sugar and flaky salt.

PARIS (Reuters) - Two climate change activists hurled soup at the protective glass in front of the world-famous "Mona Lisa" painting in Paris' Louvre museum on Sunday. Video footage showed two women flinging red soup at Leonard da Vinci's masterpiece, to gasps from onlookers. They had ducked under a security barrier to get as close as they could to the painting and were led away by Louvre security guards. In recent years, many activists have targeted art to raise awareness about climate change. The glass in front of the "Mona Lisa" was smothered in cream in a protest in May 2022.

CNN —Protesters hurled soup at the Mona Lisa painting in Paris on Sunday, but did not seem hit directly as it is protected by a clear casing. An environmental group has said two protesters involved with their campaign were behind the vandalism. The enigmatic portrait is no stranger to both vandalism and thievery. In 2009, a woman angrily threw a ceramic cup at the painting, breaking the cup but leaving the painting unharmed. Then in 2022, a visitor smeared frosting all over the Renaissance-era painting’s protective glass.

If you ever order sopa, or soup, in Paraguay, don’t expect to be served a steaming bowl of broth. What you’ll get instead is a dense and cheesy hunk of cornbread. This bread, also known as sopa Paraguaya, is one of the country’s most popular dishes. Cornmeal, onion, cheese, milk and eggs are mixed together to make a custardy cornbread, with a texture similar to bread pudding, that is commonly served alongside grilled meats.

Opinion: Our possibly short national nightmare

“My fellow Americans, our long national nightmare is over,” President Gerald Ford said. “Our campaign is the last best hope of stopping the Trump-Biden nightmare,” the former UN ambassador said. If not, it won’t be as protracted a “national nightmare” as the two-year-long Watergate scandal that put Gerald Ford in the Oval Office. Though, depending on your point of view, the real nightmare could begin after the swearing-in. Yet, John Avlon wrote, Trump and some members of the House GOP, want to tank an emerging compromise in the Senate that would couple border security measures with aid to Ukraine.

The closer you look at the teen (and even tween) skin care craze, the more blemishes appear. The modern rebranding of “beauty products” to “skin care” - reminiscent of that of “diets” to “lifestyles”- implies that simply leaving your skin alone is tantamount to negligence. In 2020, clinical skin care brand Murad enlisted high-school influencers to promote its rejuvenating serums on Instagram. Considering how many such products tend to feature in the average online skin care routine, the potential cost overall is breathtaking. The most worrying thing about today’s skin care craze isn’t just that the financial and emotional buy-in are completely out of proportion to the “need” being addressed.

This is Day 1 of Well’s Mediterranean Diet Week. And lucky for us, they’re a main feature of the Mediterranean diet, which is an approach to eating that emphasizes whole, mostly plant-based foods. Whole grains are different from refined grains in that they contain all three parts of a grain kernel: the starchy endosperm, which provides carbohydrates, protein and some B vitamins and minerals; the germ, rich in healthy fats and vitamins; and the bran, a concentrated source of fiber, minerals and B vitamins. When we eat whole grains, the fiber and healthy fats slow digestion, resulting in smaller spikes and dips in blood sugar. Fiber can also reduce blood cholesterol levels, support a healthy gut and lower the risk of developing colorectal cancer, cardiovascular disease and Type 2 diabetes.

The hotel — located in Hvidovre Hospital's maternity ward — allows mothers and their new baby to stay overnight for up to 48 hours after giving birth at no cost, a hospital spokesperson told Business Insider. New mothers in the UK are usually sent home between six and 24 hours after giving birth if they don't require additional care, according to NHS Inform. "Obviously, I was a bit nervous about giving birth in a different country, and I'm not fully fluent yet," she added. After giving birth, Christensen said she and her husband spent two nights and three days in a private room, which had two beds, a crib, and an en-suite shower and bathroom.
