Anderson Cancer Center in Houston, Dr. Jason Westin regularly witnesses the power of lifesaving cancer drugs. But because generic cancer drugs are often in shortage in the United States, he says, he and his patients have been put in a terrible position. Makers of generic drugs don’t have to share information about the supply chain, so buyers currently choose based only on price. Hernandez told the Senate committee that of the top 50 generic drugs paid for by Medicare Part D, 16 were marked up 1,000% or higher. Until there is some kind of legislation that addresses drug shortages, Wosińska and the other experts agreed, they will continue.

CNN —Friends and relatives gathered Monday to mourn the death of Yuval Castleman, the Israeli civilian who responded to a deadly terror attack in Jerusalem, shooting and killing the perpetrators before he himself was shot dead by an Israeli reservist soldier. Castleman, a former police officer, was driving to work Thursday when he saw two gunmen open fire at a bus stop in Jerusalem. A third person, an army reservist according to Israel’s military, appears to have mistaken Castleman for an attacker and began shooting at him. Bullets from one of the Israeli soldiers may have also struck Castleman, the IDF said. He was shouting ‘I’m an Israeli.’ He threw his wallet, his identification, on the way so they could see he’s an Israeli.

The details below have been compiled from comments by freed hostages to their families, their carers and sometimes to reporters. Under the terms of the deal between Israel and Hamas, most of those released are women, children and foreign workers. Ruth Munder, a released Israeli hostage, walks with an Israeli soldier shortly after her arrival in Israel on November 24. Emily Hand told her father that they always had breakfast and sometimes lunch or an evening meal. Emily Hand said she was not hit and her father said he believed harsh voices were enough to make her do what was wanted.

Reuters could not immediately confirm the report and there was no immediate comment from Israel or Hamas. But for Dr. Nicholas Westers, a clinical psychologist at Children’s Medical Center Dallas, simply talking about mental health isn’t always a good thing. But she has been diagnosed with depression and anxiety, Nelson told CNN, and has had her share of mental health struggles. “Mental health is part of your physical health, and I think the internet, social media, has definitely played a part in that (association),” she said. Acknowledging what they’re experiencing may even help people actually address their mental health and seek the help they need. Making a quip like “I’m going to kill myself” when feeling down or “I’m so OCD” when you just like organization can also create stigmatization around mental health, Westers said.

In 1994, he became the first Black chef to win the James Beard Foundation's Best Chef Award. The famed chef touched on his ideology during a 1994 interview shared on YouTube by the African American Chefs Hall of Fame. Patrick's remarks weren't a knock against Black American cuisine. Instead, it was an unapologetic declaration that Black chefs can't — and won't — be pigeonholed. Black chefs at that time were fighting stereotypes that they could only excel at making soul food.

Danny Brom, director of METIV: The Israel Psychotrauma Center, said some will need medical treatment but others will not. Since the latest round of releases began on Friday, with Israel releasing some jailed Palestinians in exchange, the freed hostages have been kept away from the media. Most of the 240 hostages that Israel says were seized on Oct. 7 are still in captivity. Hamas portrays the treatment of hostages as humane, and says it has treated the hostages in accordance with Islamic teachings to preserve their lives and wellbeing. BURLINGTON, Vt. (AP) — Vigils for three college students of Palestinian descent who were shot in Vermont over the weekend prompted calls for authorities to recognize the violence as a hate crime, and for unity among the Jewish and Arab communities. One vigil was held Monday night at Brown University in Rhode Island, where one of the victims, Hisham Awartani, is a student. Eaton moved to Burlington over the summer from Syracuse, New York, and legally purchased the gun used in the shooting, Murad told reporters. Eaton came to the door holding his hands, palms up, and told the officers he’d been waiting for them. Sarah George, state’s attorney, said that law enforcement officials do not yet have evidence to support a hate crime charge, which under Vermont law must be proven beyond a reasonable doubt.
