Clean energy and clean vehicle companies added nearly 150,000 new jobs in 2023, the first full year of the Inflation Reduction Act, the report found. Of that total, the South added more than 54,000 clean energy jobs, accounting for 36% of all new jobs in the region. By comparison, the Midwest, Northeast and West combined added 95,000 clean energy jobs in 2023. The employment sectors analyzed in E2’s “Clean Jobs America” report include clean vehicles, renewable energy, battery storage, grid modernization and biofuels. The annual Florida Python Challenge has slithered to its conclusion, with professionally-categorized python purger Ronald Kiger crowned its victor after removing 20 Burmese pythons from the Florida Everglades. The commission revealed 195 Burmese pythons were successfully removed from the wild during the challenge. The hunt is designed to bring awareness to the invasive threat of the Burmese python species in Florida. These snakes are found primarily in and around the Everglades ecosystem in South Florida, where they prey on birds, mammals and other reptiles. Burmese pythons can spread diseases amongst native animals, affect native snakes and have high mercury levels that are dangerous for human consumption.

7:02 a.m.: JPMorgan hikes Roku price target Roku's focus on monetization for its Platform segment may spell good news for the stock. Analyst Cory Carpenter kept his overweight rating on the stock but upped his price target by $10 to $90. "We believe Lilly's launch of an obstructive sleep apnea (OSA) indication for its GLP-1 medication tirzepatide poses significant patient funnel disruption/distortion risks," the analyst wrote.
