On opening day, the WLD token surged from $1.70 to $3.58, up by about 110.6%, according to CoinMarketCap data compiled by Bloomberg. Isaac Patka, a former electrical engineer in the semiconductor industry turned crypto developer in 2017, believes the hype will soon fade. People could be exploited by signing up to get their irises scanned and then sell their accounts for a little bit of money in exchange for giving up their identity, Patka added. Now, what I mean by that is, if you're using a blockchain, it gets written to the blockchain," Arone said. You also run the risk of changes to the system, Arone added.

Sergio Arguelles, president of the Mexican Association of Private Industrial Parks (AMPIP), said parks' investment in state energy assets today is unprecedented. "Mexico would be very well positioned to take advantage of nearshoring if it didn't have such an energy problem," he said. THE SHRINKING STATEMexico's approach to its groaning electricity grid is in contrast to its fast-growing peers, which tend to either incentivize private energy contractors or have state utility companies with deep pockets. Still, there is some hope for the new wave of 47 planned industrial parks. Yet critics say Mexico's push for state control over energy distribution while also neglecting it is self-sabotage.

Mark Zuckerberg's Meta already appears to have a trademark for an "X" logo. Musk's new logo for "X" also resembles a Unicode character and a Monotype font. Twitter may have hit a snag while rolling out its new logo — it seems like Meta already holds the rights to it. Meta's "X" logo in its trademark filings looks different from the one Musk has put up on Twitter's website. Meta's "X" looks like two arrows with rounded ends pointing inwards — one white and one blue — while Twitter's "X" is a black and white angular rendition.

Supporters of student debt forgiveness demonstrate outside the U.S. Supreme Court on June 30, 2023, in Washington, DC. Student loan forgiveness is federally tax-free through 2025 because of a provision from the American Rescue Plan of 2021, Biden's $1.9 trillion Covid-19 stimulus package. While the Tax Foundation estimated that seven states could tax student loan forgiveness in August 2022, it's still possible to see legislative changes. "No one wants to be the state that's taxing loan forgiveness," Miller added. While public service loan forgiveness has always been tax-free, the current taxation for income-driven repayment plans is only temporary.

NEW YORK, July 18 (Reuters) - Blackstone Group LP is to invest $150 million in London-based Astaris Capital Management which will be split between the firm's existing hedge fund and a new pool of capital with a drawdown structure, two sources said. Investors may want to reduce international exposure right now and stick with the home court. "One of the highest predicting factors for [the] future performance of international stocks versus U.S stocks is what the U.S dollar does," Arthur told CNBC's "ETF Edge" this week. "From 2011 to 2022, the dollar was in a straight bull market, so you were gonna lose in international equities no matter what you did." That's a perfect setup where we're going to be cutting rates before the rest of the world. That's where the catalysts will have to be to see value come back, to see international come back [and] to see emerging come back."

What cooling inflation means for your Series I bonds

Jetcityimage | Istock | Getty ImagesAs inflation falls, investors are weighing whether to buy or sell Series I bonds amid other competitive options for cash. "Cooling inflation means that interest rates are likely near the end of their increases," said certified financial planner Ted Haley, president of Advanced Wealth Management in Portland, Oregon. But in the meantime, many investors are waiting for the Federal Reserve's next interest rate decision later this month, which may affect cash yields. While the yearly rate fell to 4.3% in May 2023, the fixed rate portion climbed to 0.9%, making the asset more attractive for long-term investors. Of course, the next fixed rate for I bonds could be higher or lower.

We also show that formerly covered states were largely indistinguishable from formerly uncovered states in terms of retrogression. If anything, states unaffected by Shelby County retrogressed marginally more than did states impacted by the ruling. If changes in election laws, especially those affecting voter turnout, have little influence on partisan outcomes, why should the average citizen care about these developments? Conversely, even if the laws have only marginal influence on election outcomes, couldn’t that marginal difference become crucial in very close elections? We might think some changes to election laws are simply the right thing to do based on our ethical values.

PinnedInflation data released on Wednesday showed a pronounced cooling and offered some of the most hopeful news since the Federal Reserve began trying to tame rapid price increases 16 months ago. Officials have signaled in recent weeks that they are likely to raise interest rates at their July 25-26 meeting. For one thing, the cost of housing as measured by the Consumer Price Index — which relies on rent prices — is coming down sharply. The Fed officially targets 2 percent inflation on average over time, though it defines that goal using a separate inflation measure, the Personal Consumption Expenditures index. Interest rates increases work partly by slowing the job market and cooling wage increases, so the Fed’s fight against inflation and the strength of the labor market are closely tied.

"When you have an up-16% first half of the year, these types of strategies are going to underperform." Arthur explained call writing strategies do typically benefit from a down or flat market but struggle to perform in a rebounding environment. The built-in income-generating options strategies of the JPMorgan Equity Premium Income ETF (JEPI) helped fuel the fund's popularity in 2022. It remains the largest actively managed ETF on the market with nearly $28 billion in assets, but the rebound in growth this year has left the product lagging the broader market. "So, you're not going to keep up with the market with these types of strategies."
