LAS VEGAS (AP) — San Francisco 49ers linebacker Dre Greenlaw went down with a freak Achilles tendon injury in the first half of the Super Bowl against Kansas City on Sunday. Greenlaw bounced up and down on the sideline and then started to run onto the field with a few teammates when he collapsed holding his left leg. Greenlaw started all 15 games he played this season and was the team's second-leading tackler. Greenlaw had dealt with Achilles tendon issues recently, but he missed only those two regular-season games — and one of those was the regular-season finale, which he missed for non-injury reasons. A spokesman said it had released 1,074 applications — a permit prerequisite — since the law was enacted, but most applicants had yet to complete the process. While he waits, Mr. Mousa said he and his business partner pay $18,000 in cash every two years to rent their permit from a Bronx cabdriver who Mr. Mousa said obtained it decades ago for a few hundred dollars. Mr. Mousa said such arrangements were the only ways many vendors, who otherwise follow regulations, can avoid fines and confiscation of their carts.

New York CNN —As with many Target trips, Nevada US history teacher Tierra Espy left the store with more items than she intended to buy on Sunday. She added a magnetic activity book about iconic Civil Rights leaders to her cart, in time for Black History Month, she told CNN in a phone interview. But now, Target is pulling the item off shelves after a viral TikTok in which Espy pointed out inaccuracies such as misidentifying names and pictures of iconic Civil Rights leaders. The magnetic book was displayed next to other educational items for Black History month. “They’re expecting us not to notice the mistakes, and it’s heartbreaking as somebody who knows the mistakes and has seen it,” the history teacher said.

Here are some examples of how I upgrade my grocery list when I need a pick-me-up. It’s my least favorite winter task, so I choose to reward myself with a grocery upgrade for getting the job done. WASHINGTON (AP) — The Biden administration will start implementing a new requirement for the developers of major artificial intelligence systems to disclose their safety test results to the government. Chief among the 90-day goals from the order was a mandate under the Defense Production Act that AI companies share vital information with the Commerce Department, including safety tests. The government's National Institute of Standards and Technology will develop a uniform framework for assessing safety, as part of the order Biden signed in October. The Commerce Department has developed a draft rule on U.S. cloud companies that provide servers to foreign AI developers. The government also has scaled up the hiring of AI experts and data scientists at federal agencies.

Last June, on a whim, I canceled Amazon Prime. I still regularly buy things from Amazon with free shipping, but I'm happily out on Prime. After canceling Prime, I've been able to reevaluate the necessity of that ultra-fast, free shipping and have found it mostly unneeded. AdvertisementLeaving Prime also meant the end of free Amazon Prime Video, but I've been able to bear it. If Amazon Prime members started reconsidering and discarded the service en masse, it would be trouble for the company.

The study comes as some companies remove self-checkout machines and others adjust their self-checkout operations. Regular checkout also makes customers feel that they are receiving the service they are entitled to as customers of that store, the study found. “The saved effort during the checkout process and the customers’ sense of entitlement explain the effect of checkout type on customer loyalty,” the study said. Self-checkout, on the other hand, shifts the work to customers, making them feel less rewarded, the study found. At a handful of stores, Target has restricted self-checkout to customers buying 10 items or fewer.
