American whiskey exports to the EU jumped 118% in the first half of 2023 when compared to the same period in 2022. They went back and forth until 2021 when the tariffs on American whiskey were suspended and we took a great sigh of relief. The Biden administration’s leadership and efforts on this have enabled the suspension of tariffs on American whiskey and all distilled spirits products, but we are rightly anxious because a 50% tariff on American whiskey would be beyond devastating to exports. Since those tariffs have been suspended, we’ve seen American whiskey exports rebound to beyond pre-pandemic levels.

It looks like something straight out of science fiction. Which it is, in a way: it’s the brand new Chengdu Science Fiction Museum in the capital of Sichuan province in Southwest China. The museum was commissioned in 2022 to host this year’s 81st annual World Science Fiction Convention, nicknamed Worldcon. The Science Fiction Museum is part of a larger “Future City” development in the Pidu district, outside of the city. Known as Chengdu Future Science and Technology City, the 4.6-square-kilometer (1.8-square-mile) site will house multiple new universities, laboratories and offices.

PGT's board of directors turned down Miter's fully-financed $33-per-share offer which it deemed inadequate, the sources said. PGT shares ended trading on Monday at $26.20. White House and European Commission officials are negotiating a provisional political agreement that would cover the two main planks of the Global Arrangement for Sustainable Steel and Aluminum that the EU and U.S. have been negotiating since 2021, which include tackling non-market excess capacity and carbon emissions, the report said citing people familiar with the talks.
