The White House's plant in the Justice Department has been blacklisted for pressuring staff to hand over evidence of election fraud, the Associated Press reported, citing three sources familiar with the matter. Stirrup is said to have engaged in other misconduct at the Justice Department, including offering allies top department jobs without White House approval. On November 7, the Justice Department said it would look into Trump's baseless claims that the US election was fraudulent. Others included Joshua Whitehouse, who was moved from White House liaison at the Department of Homeland Security to White House liaison at the Department of Defense, Foreign Policy reported. But the Justice Department and New York state might not be so ready to play along.

The move follows the firing of most of the Defense Policy Board last week. The Defense Business Board consists of outside experts appointed to provide senior Department of Defense officials with independent advice on business issues. The form letter the departing board members received reportedly said that the Department of Defense will be nominating new board members and thanked them for their service. In addition to pushing out defense advisors, the Trump administration has also purged a number of senior Pentagon officials. Maier's duties were taken over by Tata and Cohen-Watnick, who occupy the top Pentagon policy and intelligence positions, respectively.

Trump has increasingly complained about the law as platforms like Twitter fact-checked his posts before and after the election. “That's not a part of the bill,” he said on Wednesday, adding that he has said the same to Trump. Trump maintains high approval ratings among Republican voters, which has made some lawmakers squeamish about crossing him. Others in the party are hopeful Trump can be convinced that completing the year-end items would boost his image. He said that if such a deal materializes, it would likely be attached to the government funding bill that must pass by Dec. 11 to avoid a shutdown.

The Trump administration has reportedly gutted the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board, removing most of its 13 members, according to Foreign Policy. The changes to the Defense Policy Board, which saw the departure of advisors like former Secretary of State Henry Kissinger, come on the heels of a major shake-up of the Pentagon's civilian leadership earlier this month. The Trump administration has reportedly pushed out most of the high-profile advisors on the Pentagon's Defense Policy Board. The board members who were removed reportedly included former Secretaries of State Madeleine Albright and Henry Kissinger, former Chief of Naval Operations Adm. Officials told Foreign Policy that the changes to the Defense Policy Board, which received pushback from people like Esper and Anderson, were aimed at clearing the way for individuals disconnected from the Washington establishment and loyal to the president.

Senate Democrats Face Power Struggle for Top Judiciary Job

Mr. Durbin is the next in line behind Ms. Feinstein on the committee, and Democrats generally adhere to seniority when awarding such posts. The tension in this case partly comes from the fact that Mr. Durbin is already the No. To some, he is trying to hoard power, potentially at the expense of his own effectiveness in either job. First elected to the Senate in 1996, Mr. Durbin, 76, who just won his fifth term, has never served as either the chairman or the senior minority member of a full committee. Members of both parties have viewed Mr. Durbin as an effective advocate for committee Democrats who have chafed at the way Republicans have jammed through nominees in recent years.

Twitter will hand over the official @POTUS account to President-elect Joe Biden when he's sworn in on Inauguration Day, the company said on Friday. President-elect Joe Biden will be handed over the official @POTUS account when he's sworn in on Inauguration Day, Twitter said in a statement on Friday. "As we did for the presidential transition in 2017, this process is being done in close consultation with the National Archives and Records Administration." However, his personal Twitter account could be much more highly regulated, and he could even face suspension or removal, according to Twitter's policies. On Tuesday, Twitter added a new label that reads "Official sources called this election differently," after Trump falsely claimed he won the presidential election.

(Reuters) - The U.S. Senate on Tuesday blocked President Donald Trump’s controversial nomination of Judy Shelton to the Federal Reserve’s board, though a White House spokesman expressed confidence she would eventually be confirmed. Republican Senator Lamar Alexander, who opposes Shelton’s nomination, is out of Washington this week but could cast a vote if one takes place when he is back. The vote on Shelton marks the first time since the establishment of modern Fed governance in 1935 that Congress has voted on a Fed nominee during a lame duck session. Whitehouse coronavirus advisor Dr. Anthony Fauci thinks that Americans have an independent spirit, but that there are times when it's in our best interest to follow the rules. Fauci, speaking on Thursday at Washington National Cathedral with other top health experts on the pandemic, noted that it is a bit unfair to compare the United States' coronavirus response with other countries. "I was talking with my U.K. colleagues who are saying the U.K. is similar to where we are now, because each of our countries have that independent spirit," he said on stage. "I can understand that, but now is the time to do what you're told." Fauci spoke alongside Dr. Luciana Borio, a member of President-Elect Joe Biden's coronavirus taskforce and National Institutes of Health Director Dr. Francis Collins.
