Key lines from the Vance-Walz vice presidential debate

Here are key lines from the debate, which was hosted by CBS News in New York City on Tuesday. Vance said many of the things Trump says, but he did it with a control that Trump lacks. The only answer is during the four years that Donald Trump was president. We have a historic immigration crisis because Kamala Harris started and said that she wanted to undo all of Donald Trump’s border policies. We could come together and solve this if we didn’t let Donald Trump continue to make it an issue.

In recent weeks, Israel has launched attacks using exploding pagers and walkie talkies, unleashed heavy bombings in Lebanon and killed longtime Hezbollah leader Hassan Nasrallah.

Israel’s recent attacks on Hezbollah expose weaknesses in Iran’s proxy strategy. Israel’s attacks on Hezbollah exposes weaknesses in Iran’s ‘axis of resistance’In a matter of weeks, Israel has dealt devastating blows to Iran’s most important proxy, Hezbollah. For Iran, Hezbollah was supposed to be the cornerstone of its strategy to outflank superior adversaries, such as Israel, with armed proxies. But Iran’s strategy, dubbed the “axis of resistance,” underestimated how Israel would respond to the Hamas terrorist attack of Oct. 7 and subsequent cross-border rocket fire from Hezbollah. New York CNN —DirecTV wants its customers to stick with the service during an increasingly nasty dispute with Disney that threatens to black out tonight’s “Monday Night Football” game. So DirecTV developed an unusual strategy: It’s paying customers to subscribe to a rival. Affected customers of DirecTV, DirecTV Stream and U-Verse can get a free weeklong trial of Fubo for two of its packages that carry ESPN and Disney networks and an additional $30 off the first month of service. DirecTV is also giving its customers a $30 credit to sign up for Sling’s orange tier that includes ESPN channels. DirecTV said the deals are a “small way” to help customers while its fight over the expired distribution agreement with Disney stretches into a second week.

After Democrats’ long-held edge, Team Trump starts to close the battleground ad spending gapBy Ben KamisarIf you live in a swing state and are already sick of seeing presidential campaign ads, buckle up. Over that same period of time, the Trump campaign spent less than $230,000. But over the last two weeks, a dramatic shift from the Trump campaign has helped close the gap. It has spent a total of $13 million in those key states, compared to $16.5 million from the Harris campaign. But we’ve written before about how Republicans have cut into the Democrats’ fundraising edge, and these ad spending numbers show the fruits of that effort.
