PARIS (AP) — It was Wild West meets melting pot America at the Louis Vuitton Fall-Winter 2024 men’s show Tuesday, where musician-turned-designer Pharrell Williams unveiled his highly-anticipated sophomore collection. The show, set against the dramatic silhouette of the Louis Vuitton Foundation in Paris, masterfully channeled Americana, with Native American designs mixing with modern luxury and showcasing Williams’ unique vision for the powerhouse. "Pharrell wanted to bring out the Native American spirit, (...) he wanted to showcase we’re still here, we’re still resilient,” Rebecca Brady, 54, a Native American from New Town, North Dakota, told The Associated Press. The atmosphere was further charged with performances by Mumford & Sons and artists from the Native American nations. WARE, England (AP) — Buffalo Bills edge rusher Von Miller says it's a “safe bet” that he'll make his season debut against the Jacksonville Jaguars on Sunday. Miller, who sustained a knee injury last November, said Friday there's a “94 1/2 percent” likelihood of him suiting up at Tottenham Hotspur Stadium. “I am excited to play American football in front this crowd,” said Miller, the NFL’s active leader in sacks. He tore a ligament and sustained cartilage damage in his right knee during a win at Detroit last Thanksgiving Day. Lionel Messi joining Major League Soccer boosted Apple TV+ subscriber numbers, according to Tim Cook. "The fact that Messi went to Inter Miami helped us out there a bit," Cook said Thursday. Apple's streaming service is already feeling the benefit of soccer superstar Lionel Messi joining Major League Soccer, according to Tim Cook. Cook said in a quarterly earnings call Thursday that Apple TV+ had beaten its subscriber targets over the three months ending July 1. The Athletic reported in June that Messi had also inked revenue-sharing agreements with both Apple TV and Adidas, which is one of MLS's largest corporate sponsors.

For a brief moment, after Celine canceled its men’s wear show in Paris because of the recent unrest in France, there were concerns about whether last week’s couture shows would go as planned. Thom Browne, for his debut couture show, turned an opera house into a wonderland full of fantastical suiting. Valentino showed ethereal gowns against the backdrop of the Château de Chantilly, a palatial property outside Paris and one of the most extraordinary venues I’ve ever photographed. In the crowds outside the shows, there was noticeably less peacocking. Others traded boxy clothes, which have dominated the style of guests and fans in recent years, for pieces with softer, more fluid silhouettes.

Gap reported sales of $4.24 billion, down 6% from $4.53 billion a year earlier. Online sales, which represent 41% of total net sales, plummeted 10% compared to last year, the company said. It expected first quarter net sales to decrease in the mid-single digit range compared to the prior fiscal year and expects fiscal 2023 net sales to decrease in the low to mid-single digit range. Overall, net sales for the year dropped to $15.62 billion compared to $16.67 billion in the prior fiscal year. Net losses for the year came in at $202 million, compared to a net income of $256 million in the prior fiscal year.
