In a bid to coax Donald Trump back onto the debate stage with Vice President Kamala Harris, Democrats plan to launch a new messaging campaign dubbing the former president a "chicken" for saying he won't debate again. The chicken billboards, which will first appear at Trump's rally Monday in Indiana, Pennsylvania, include a digitally altered image of Trump in a chicken suit alongside the words "There's no debate: Donald Trump's a chicken." Harris and Trump met for their first debate, hosted by ABC News, this month in Philadelphia. On Saturday, Harris' campaign announced that she'd accepted CNN's invitation to participate in a debate on Oct. 23. The Trump campaign didn't immediately respond to a request for comment.

Former President Donald Trump said Thursday that he will not participate in any future debates against Vice President Kamala Harris. "There will be no debate," he said in all-caps on his Truth Social website, before criticizing the vice president's debate performance. Trump has claimed the moderators were unfair and was initially noncommittal about participating in another matchup with Harris. In multiple TruthSocial posts, Trump had said he was considering debate offers from Fox, CBS and NBC. During an interview with "Fox and Friends" on Wednesday, host Steve Doocy said the network on Tuesday night had offered the Trump and Harris campaigns three potential dates in October for an additional debate.

Though the debate opened with a discussion about the economy, the conversation quickly devolved into platitudes, boasts, and personal jabs. Industry leaders told Business Insider that they hoped to hear the candidates discuss crypto guidelines, regulation, and key appointments on Tuesday night, but little was said about any of those topics. "What we really need is either a debate or a whole section of a debate devoted to economic issues," Tedeschi said. Tedeschi told Business Insider that we need clarity about Trump's proposed tariffs, which are the "most consequential and radical thing that he's proposed." Chris Larsen, the billionaire co-founder of blockchain payments company Ripple, told Business Insider that Harris was "spectacular."

Trump Questioned Harris’s Racial Identity

Donald Trump questioned Kamala Harris’s identity as a Black woman today in front of an audience of Black journalists. “She was Indian all the way, and then, all of a sudden, she made a turn, and she went, she became a Black person,” he said of Harris, whose mother is Indian American and whose father is Black. The Harris campaign condemned Trump’s remarks and the White House called his comments “repulsive.”From start to finish, Trump’s appearance at the National Association of Black Journalists convention was contentious. The event — one of the most unusual appearances of the presidential campaign so far — was an opportunity for Trump to stake his claim to Black voters that he has insisted he can win over, even as he runs against the first Black woman ever nominated by a major party. But it was not clear he succeeded.

But now it has to retool to elect Kamala Harris, who’s a Black and South Asian woman in the year 2024,” said one aide at campaign headquarters. Never have the people on what was, until Sunday afternoon, the very small core team around Harris felt so popular. That, they know, has to change immediately, but will happen as Harris’ staff is asked to step in. Retaining hard fought Harris equilibriumLike Biden, Harris doesn’t have a history of running great or well-functioning campaigns, whether that was her Senate race in 2016 or her 2020 presidential run that didn’t even survive until December of 2019. CNN —For weeks, the White House press corps has been boiling – and not from the Washington, DC, heat. Some feel the White House misled the press before President Joe Biden’s stumbling performance at last month’s CNN presidential debate. “I think this is a credibility crisis writ large for the White House, and certainly as a spokesperson for the White House, this is a credibility crisis for her,” one White House reporter told CNN, speaking on condition of anonymity to discuss the situation. “We are in the midst of a full-blown feeding frenzy,” former CNN White House correspondent and Washington bureau chief Frank Sesno said. Sesno and former White House correspondents and officials told CNN that questions surrounding Biden’s age and performance, along with how the White House is handling the issue, are legitimate and warrant scrutiny.

The legal fee represents a cut of the value that the plaintiff’s lawyers say was created for Tesla by a Delaware judge’s January ruling that rescinded Musk’s $56-billion pay package. The Musk case took a dramatic turn when Tesla shareholders in June voted to ratify Musk’s pay, which Tesla has argued corrected the flaws in the 2018 process that McCormick identified in her ruling. The company argues that Musk’s pay package has been restored and that Tornetta’s legal victory has been transformed into a loss. McCormick may take weeks or months to rule on the legal fee. The Delaware Supreme Court is considering a $267 million fee request in a shareholder class action involving Dell Technologies and that decision could provide fee guidance.

The actor Alec Baldwin appeared Monday in a Santa Fe courthouse as his lawyers sparred with prosecutors over what evidence could be shown to the jury when he goes on trial this week for the fatal shooting of a cinematographer on the set of the film “Rust.”Wearing a suit with a gray striped tie and glasses with thick dark frames, Mr. Baldwin, who is facing a charge of involuntary manslaughter, appeared to pay close attention to the proceedings, taking notes and leaning over to speak with a lawyer. Mr. Baldwin was indicted by a grand jury for his role in the fatal shooting of the cinematographer, Halyna Hutchins, who was killed on Oct. 21, 2021, when a gun he was rehearsing with discharged a live bullet. He has pleaded not guilty, saying he was told the gun did not contain live ammunition. He has also said he did not pull the trigger before the bullet fired, which prosecutors dispute. The judge in the case, Mary Marlowe Sommer of the First Judicial District in New Mexico, ruled on Monday that prosecutors could not argue that Mr. Baldwin’s role as a member of the production team — he was one of the film’s producers in addition to being its leading man — had made him more culpable for the death of Ms. Hutchins.

“Interpreting economic data is like interpreting a Monet painting in the best of times,” Mark Zandi, chief economist at Moody’s Analytics, told CNN in an interview. “When President Biden takes credit for all jobs and says Trump lost all the jobs? “And until it does, we won’t have a real good sense of what the new metrics are that reflect the direction in the economy and consumer confidence.”Twenty years ago, presidential elections came down to “jobs, jobs, jobs,” Brusuelas said. “They’re going to be thinking, ‘Wait a minute, all this money’s going into this and can replace the job that guys like me do? Read previewThe first presidential debate of 2024 did not go well for President Joe Biden. Despite a few jabs at Trump, Biden spent much of the debate slurring through sentences and, at times, sounding incoherent. 'It wasn't the president's finest hour'When it was Trump's turn to speak, Biden sometimes looked toward the ground as though drifting from the conversation.
