A recent survey of Morgan Stanley's 2024 interns found that the "Tesla 'cool factor' is cooling" among Gen Zers in the US. Despite competition in the EV market becoming stiffer than ever, Tesla has not majorly refreshed its aging car models in years. AdvertisementInstead, Musk has been pivoting Tesla's future toward robo-taxis, but Gen Z doesn't seem interested. Robo-taxis will likely not be Tesla's saving grace, as 51% of Gen Z interns surveyed said they thought owning or leasing a car would still be necessary by 2030. AdvertisementAnd, for the Gen Z interns surveyed, it probably won't be an EV at all.

There's a disconnect between the level of AI training that leadership teams believe they're giving their employees and the level of training that managers and employees think they're getting, research shows. Nearly three-quarters (73%) of C-suite executives believe their company fully embraces generative AI, including training for the technology, according to a 2023 Upwork survey. "Executives sometimes have a broad-brush approach to AI training," said Apratim Purakayastha, chief technology officer at Skillsoft. Plus, they were 1.9 times more likely to have a formal generative AI skills program in place for their workforce, as well as 3.8 times more likely to have a well-defined generative AI strategy. Generative AI, Monahan notes, can usher in a new era of productivity — if we let it.

7-Eleven is giving the Slurpee a makeover
  + stars: | 2023-06-12 | by ( Jordan Valinsky | ) edition.cnn.com   time to read: +2 min
New York CNN —The Slurpee, an iconic 7-Eleven frozen drink, is getting a makeover. Currently, stores sell at least three flavors (Coca-Cola, cherry and blue raspberry) and 7-Eleven often changes up its limited-time offerings. In 1965, 7-Eleven licensed the machine and changed its name from ICEE to Slurpee, because it described the sound drinkers made while sipping it through the straw. In the 1970s, 7-Eleven sold special cups with sports stars, video games and singers and some people even saved them to collect all of the designs. Every year, 7-Eleven celebrates the frozen concoction on July 11 (you know, 7/11) and hands out free small Slurpees to customers.

In fact, companies indexed to these trends can outgrow the broader market and should be on investors' radar today, Buchalter said. TD Cowen's proprietary model forecasts the total automotive semis market growing at a 9% compound annual growth rate from 2023 to 2030 — doubling to about $121 billion. The company has already amassed a $30 billion auto revenue pipeline, spread across the digital cockpit, connectivity and ADAS, he pointed out.

Tesla is taking on the mass marketMusk has said Tesla aims to build 2 million vehicles this year, nearly doubling its 2022 production capacity. These moves, coupled with redesigns, are all but necessary in order for Tesla to truly compete with the likes of GM and Toyota.
Tesla reported record-breaking Q1 deliveries of 422,875 vehicles. Analysts warn price cuts alone can't keep competition at bay. This record-breaking first-quarter delivery report from comes after Tesla engaged in a series of price cuts and other purchase incentives for the last several months, a move that some investors worried would have too much adverse impact on the company's profit margins. Other analysts and industry experts initially wondered if Musk was using price cuts to turn Tesla's demand problem into an advantage over his competitors. But analysts warn that price cuts alone cannot stave off competition forever.
